The Senior Plant Accountant is responsible for analyzing and managing manufacturing costs, maintaining standard costing systems, and providing financial insight to improve operational efficiency and profitability. This role partners closely with operations, supply chain, and finance teams to ensure accurate product costing, inventory valuation, and financial reporting.

Key Responsibilities
Cost Accounting & Analysis- Maintain and analyze standard cost systems
, including labor, material, and overhead rates. - Perform monthly cost variance analysis (material, labor, overhead, and production variances).
- Analyze manufacturing performance and cost drivers to identify opportunities for cost reduction and operational improvement.
- Monitor inventory valuation and cost accuracy across multiple product lines or manufacturing locations.
- Ensure accurate inventory accounting and reconciliation between ERP systems and the general ledger.
- Support physical inventory counts and cycle counts
, investigating discrepancies and implementing corrective actions. - Work with operations teams to improve inventory controls and cost management processes

- Support the month‑end close process including cost‑related journal entries and account reconciliations.
- Prepare reports on cost of goods sold (COGS), manufacturing margins, and inventory analysis
. - Assist with financial reporting and provide analysis to support management decision‑making.
- Partner with finance and operations to develop manufacturing budgets and forecasts
. - Track and analyze manufacturing spending and operational efficiency
. - Provide financial insights on production volume, capacity utilization, and cost improvement initiatives.
- Identify opportunities to improve cost accounting systems, reporting processes, and operational efficiency
. - Support ERP implementations, system upgrades, or process automation projects
. - Collaborate with cross‑functional teams on cost reduction and continuous improvement initiatives.
- Ensure compliance with GAAP and company accounting policies
. - Support internal and external audits related to inventory and cost accounting.
- Maintain proper documentation and internal controls around cost accounting processes.
- Bachelor’s degree in Accounting, Finance, or related field required
- CPA or CMA preferred
- 5–8+ years of accounting experience
, with strong focus on cost accounting in manufacturing - Experience with standard costing, variance analysis, and inventory accounting
- Experience working with ERP systems (SAP, Oracle, JD Edwards, Net Suite, etc.)
