Senior Director, Corporate Accounting

A publicly traded, multi-entity organization is seeking an experienced accounting leader to oversee corporate accounting and long‑lived asset accounting functions. Reporting to the Corporate Controller, this role is responsible for leading multiple accounting teams supporting corporate activities (including debt, insurance, legal, and corporate functions) as well as fixed asset and lease accounting. This leader will drive technical accounting excellence, strengthen SOX compliance, accelerate the close process, and implement scalable process improvements across a complex, multi‑location environment.

• Oversee accounting for corporate functions including debt, insurance, legal, support functions, and other centralized activities.
• Lead long‑lived asset accounting including fixed assets and lease accounting.
• Ensure accurate, timely, and complete accounting treatment across all areas of responsibility.
• Improve the accuracy and timeliness of monthly, quarterly, and annual close processes.
• Oversee preparation and review of journal entries, account reconciliations, variance analyses, and supporting schedules.
• Support financial reporting, tax accounting, and audit requirements.
• Prepare and manage reporting inputs including regulatory and government reporting where applicable.
• Provide ad hoc financial analysis and reporting to executive leadership, FP&A, and Tax teams as needed.
• Strengthen and maintain SOX‑compliant processes and documentation.
• Remediate control deficiencies and proactively prevent future risks.
• Serve as a key stakeholder for internal and external audits within areas of responsibility.
• Enhance public‑company discipline across end‑to‑end accounting processes.
• Drive close acceleration initiatives and reconciliation automation.
• Build scalable policies and foundational processes leveraging best‑in‑class tools and technology.
• Develop and implement KPIs to improve visibility and performance tracking.
• Partner with Accounting Systems and Finance leadership to optimize ERP and EPM utilization.
• Collaborate with Tax, Treasury, AP, AR, FP&A, Consolidations, and Financial Reporting teams to ensure financial information is delivered accurately and on time.
• Partner with upstream stakeholders to enhance end‑to‑end financial processes.
• Support strategic initiatives and special projects as assigned.

• Bachelor's degree in Accounting or Finance
• CPA required
• 12+ years of progressive accounting experience
• Public accounting experience required
• Public company experience required
• Strong working knowledge of U.S. GAAP and SOX/internal controls
• Demonstrated experience leading accounting teams in a multi‑location or complex environment
• Strong systems experience including Oracle ERP and EPM tools
• Advanced Microsoft Office proficiency
• Excellent written and verbal communication skills
• Strong analytical, problem‑solving, and critical‑thinking skills
• Ability to travel as needed (minimal travel anticipated)
