Job Summary

Position: Director, Revenue & Rebate Accountant |
Location: Charlotte, NC |
Business Unit: Corporate Accounting (Global Revenue & AUM Team)

The Global Revenue and AUM team seeks an experienced Revenue & Rebate Accounting professional to own key revenue billing, rebate, accounting close, control, and reporting activities across multiple legal entities. The role requires strong technical accounting judgment, the ability to review and challenge complex fee and AUM calculations, and partnership with senior stakeholders across Finance, Technology, Risk, Compliance, Client Services, and Investment Operations.

Responsibilities
  • Revenue Billing & Invoicing:
    Manage fee billing processes, issue client invoices, oversee month‑end revenue accrual calculations, and handle related journal entries.
  • Rebate Management:
    Calculate, review, govern, and process rebates to intermediaries or clients; maintain rebate schedules and resolve fee or rebate inquiries.
  • Financial Analysis & Complex Calculations:
    Review, challenge, and explain complex fee and AUM calculations, validate revenue share and management fee computations, and investigate variances.
  • Journal Entries & Accounting Close:
    Own journal entries for revenue recognition and fee accruals, ensuring documentation and posting into the General Ledger (Workday) on schedule.
  • Process Improvement & Automation:
    Lead initiatives to streamline finance processes, employing advanced Excel, Power Query, Power BI, SQL, and AI‑enabled capabilities to enhance accuracy and efficiency.
  • Systems Management:
    Act as senior finance owner of revenue management systems (Envestnet Revenue Manager), maintaining static data, monitoring data feeds, and coordinating with Technology teams.
  • Documentation & Control:
    Develop and update process documentation, SOPs, and controls for revenue and rebate tasks, maintaining audit trails and compliance with internal policies.
  • Cross‑Functional

    Collaboration:

    Work closely with Financial Accounting, Investor Relations, Technology, Risk, and Compliance teams to deliver initiatives, resolve data issues, and support management reporting.
  • Continuous Learning & Support:
    Stay informed on tools and best practices, provide technical guidance to junior colleagues, and support knowledge sharing within the Revenue & AUM team.
Qualifications
  • Education & Background:
    Bachelor’s degree in Accounting, Finance, Mathematics, or a related field (preferred).
  • Professional

    Experience:

    7+ years in finance, accounting, revenue billing, or related control environments; experience with fee billing, revenue accounting, rebates, or AUM reporting is highly advantageous.
  • Technical

    Skills:

    Advanced Excel (data analysis, tables, complex formulas);
    Power Query, SQL, and Power BI; experience with revenue management systems (Envestnet Revenue Manager) or similar.
  • Analytical & Problem‑Solving:
    Exceptional analytical skills, ability to validate complex financial calculations and large datasets, and to troubleshoot data discrepancies.
  • Communication &

    Collaboration:

    Excellent written and verbal skills; ability to liaise with cross‑functional teams, auditors, and senior finance stakeholders.
  • Initiative & Adaptability:
    Self‑starter with a proactive mindset toward process improvement, automation, and technology adoption.
  • Professional Certification: CPA, ACCA, CIMA, ACA, or equivalent preferred; significant progress toward certification is acceptable.
  • Industry

    Experience:

    Asset management or financial services background, especially involving fee billing, investment management fees, rebates, or AUM reporting.
