Position Summary

We are seeking a detail-oriented and dependable Controller. This role serves as the operational accounting backbone of a growing PE-backed platform. The CFO is shifting focus to forecasting and investor relations. This hire owns the close, the controls, and the infrastructure buildout that enables scale.

Key Responsibilities
  • Own the monthly, quarterly, and annual close process; prepare and review GAAP-compliant financial statements (P&L, balance sheet, cash flow)
  • Maintain the general ledger; ensure accuracy and completeness across all entities and regional subsidiaries
  • Prepare financial packages for PE sponsor and investor reporting; partner with CFO on board-level materials
  • Lead annual audit coordination; serve as primary point of contact for external auditors and tax advisors
Internal Controls & Compliance
  • Define, document, and enforce internal control policies across the organization, including delegation of authority, segregation of duties, and AP approval workflows
  • Identify control gaps and ambiguities; proactively build structure in a company that is still professionalizing its accounting function
  • Ensure compliance with federal and state tax requirements; oversee filing of returns and coordination with outside tax counsel
  • Lead bank account transitions and system migrations; manage banking relationships and ensure operational continuity during transitions
  • Oversee daily cash management, reconciliation, and cash flow visibility; flag risk and optimize working capital
  • Directly manage AP Manager, Staff Accountant, and regional controllers; provide coaching, performance management, and workload oversight
  • Partner with CFO to identify and recruit accounting talent as the team scales; help assess gaps and structure the department for future growth
  • Collaborate with internal recruiting on future accounting hires; support onboarding and process documentation for new staff
Process Improvement & Systems
  • Assess current-state accounting processes and implement scalable, audit-ready workflows; comfort operating in an environment that is still being structured
  • Drive ERP and accounting system optimization; support integrations with newly acquired entities
  • Build toward a more automated, data-driven close and reporting environment that can support the company's growth trajectory
Qualifications
  • BS Degree in Accounting or Finance; CPA preferred
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Excel and general office software
  • Excellent attention to detail and accuracy
  • Strong organizational and time-management skills
  • Ability to handle confidential information with discretion
  • Strong communication and problem-solving skills
Key Attributes
  • Self-starter who takes initiative and works independently
  • Highly organized with strong attention to detail
  • Process-oriented mindset with a focus on automation and continuous improvement
  • Comfortable operating in a fast-paced, evolving environment
  • Strong analytical and problem-solving skills
  • Effective communicator who can collaborate across departments and remote teams
  • Adaptable and excited about growing with the organization
Why Apply?
  • High-impact role in a fast-growing organization with direct exposure to executive leadership
  • Significant opportunity for career growth for individuals with solid work ethics, great attitudes, and aptitude
  • Collaborative and entrepreneurial culture
  • Competitive base pay and eligibility to participate in a performance-based bonus program
  • Medical, dental, vision, and life insurance coverage options
