Accounts Payable Specialist

We are looking for an Accounts Payable Specialist to support day-to-day invoice processing and payment activities for a busy finance team in Charlotte, North Carolina. This contract opportunity with potential for a permanent role is ideal for someone who brings strong attention to detail, accuracy in coding, and confidence handling high-volume payable workflows. The role will contribute to timely vendor payments, organized records, and smooth coordination across accounting operations.

Responsibilities:

• Review incoming invoices for accuracy, completeness, and proper approval before entering them into the payable workflow
• Assign correct general ledger or account codes to invoices to maintain accurate financial records and reporting
• Process vendor payments through ACH transactions and check runs in accordance with established payment schedules
• Investigate and resolve invoice discrepancies by working with internal stakeholders and external vendors
• Maintain organized documentation for invoices, payment activity, and supporting records to ensure audit readiness
• Monitor payment deadlines to help avoid delays, duplicate payments, and missed obligations
• Reconcile payable activity and assist with identifying outstanding items that require follow-up
