Project Accountant II
We are seeking a Project Accountant II to support a growing engineering and professional services team. This individual will play a key role in project financial management, client invoicing, budgeting, collections support, and financial reporting. The ideal candidate is highly organized, detail-oriented, and capable of managing multiple projects simultaneously in a fast-paced environment.
Key Responsibilities- Generate and submit client invoices according to project contracts, codes, and fee schedules
- Manage project budgets and monitor financial performance
- Support collections efforts and communicate with Project Managers regarding outstanding balances
- Maintain project contract documentation, fee schedules, and budget entries
- Assist with accounts payable coding and processing
- Provide backup support for timesheet management and expense reporting
- Coordinate project accounting activities and ensure compliance with contractual requirements
- Analyze project financial data and provide timely reporting
- Partner with Project Managers to resolve financial and billing issues
- Mentor junior Project Accountants as needed
- Associate degree in Accounting, Finance, Business, or a related field, or equivalent combination of education and experience
- Minimum of 5 years of accounting or project accounting experience
- Experience with client invoicing and project accounting processes
- Familiarity with Earned Value Management (EVM)
- Strong Microsoft Excel skills
- Excellent verbal and written communication skills
- Ability to prioritize multiple tasks in a fast-paced environment
- Strong attention to detail and organizational skills
- Ability to handle confidential information professionally
- Proficiency with Microsoft Office, including Excel, Word, and Outlook
- Bachelor's degree in Accounting or a related field
- Experience supporting engineering, construction, architecture, or professional services organizations
- Experience partnering directly with Project Managers on project financial performance
- Independently manage client invoicing, collections tracking, and project budgeting
- Maintain accurate contract documentation and financial records
- Support multiple project teams while ensuring accuracy and timeliness
- Help keep projects on schedule and within budget
- Provide outstanding internal customer service to Project Managers and stakeholders
Job Type & Location
This is a Contract to Hire position based out of Charlotte, NC.
Pay and Benefits
The pay range for this position is $33.65 - $36.06/hr.
