Staff Accountant — Real Estate Development & Construction Full-Time IC | Remote | Core hours overlap with U.S. Central Time (CST)
About The Company
We are a growing real estate development firm managing an active pipeline of construction and development projects alongside our corporate operations. Our business runs across multiple related entities, with financials spanning project-level budgets, subcontracts, and draws as well as corporate overhead and intercompany activity. As our portfolio grows, so does the need for accurate, real-time accounting support that keeps pace with both the field and the office.
AboutThe Role
This role exists to bring full-time, real-time accounting coverage in step with the company's growth. This is an ownership seat, not a data-entry one: you will run the full-cycle accounts payable process, keep project budgets honest, and take a hands-on part in the month-end close across multiple entities.
You will sit at the intersection of the field and the office — turning site activity into clean, accurate financial records and giving project and corporate leadership confidence that the numbers are current and correct. Because you will work core U.S. Central Time hours, you will be a live, responsive partner to project teams and management throughout the business day.
Key Responsibilities Accounts Payable & Purchase Order Management- Own the full-cycle AP process across development projects and corporate operations, from invoice intake through entry in the accounting system.
- Coordinate with project teams and site staff to generate and issue Purchase Orders.
- Match invoices against POs and subcontracts to confirm pricing accuracy, and flag budget or commitment overages to the responsible project staff.
- Monitor project budgets and commitments, keeping job costs aligned to plan.
- Track draws and progress billings, and support work-in-progress (WIP) schedules as projects advance.
- Maintain accurate cost records that give project leads a real-time view of where each job stands.
- Own assigned areas of the month-end close, including journal entries and general ledger maintenance.
- Perform bank and credit card reconciliations, resolving discrepancies and following up on missing information directly with the relevant teams.
- Support timely, accurate financial reporting for both project and corporate stakeholders.
- Process corporate-level expenses and maintain "due to / due from" balances across multiple real estate entities.
- Support tax preparation on project draws and corporate invoices in coordination with the finance team and external advisors.
- Manage vendor and internal AP inquiries through shared inboxes, ensuring no payment query goes unanswered.
- Maintain a centralized, auditable history of vendor interactions and payment status for the accounting team.
- 3+ years of accounting experience spanning accounts payable and general accounting (month-end close, reconciliations, journal entries).
- Hands‑on experience with an accounting or ERP system.
- Strong written and spoken English, with the communication maturity to work live with U.S. teams during CST business hours.
- Highly organized and detail‑driven, comfortable owning processes with limited oversight.
- Based in Latin America and able to work full-time on a U.S. Central Time schedule.
- Experience in construction, real estate development, or project-based accounting (job costing, WIP, draws, subcontracts, retainage/holdbacks).
- Exposure to North American construction and tax practices, or a clear willingness to learn the company's specific jurisdictional requirements.
- Familiarity with receipt‑management tools and team communication platforms.
- Experience supporting a multi‑entity accounting environment.
You are highly organized, proactive, and accurate under volume. You take ownership rather than wait for direction, and you flag problems early instead of letting them surface at month-end. You communicate clearly and promptly, and you are comfortable being the live point of contact for project and corporate teams during the workday. You are as at home entering an invoice correctly as you are reconciling an account or explaining a budget variance — and you want your scope to grow as the business grows.
WhyJoin Us
You will own real responsibility from day one, work directly with leadership rather than behind layers of process, and see the direct impact of your work on live construction and development projects. As the portfolio grows, so will your role.
