About the OpportunityConstruction Controller
We are seeking an experienced Construction Controller to join a well-established and growing construction organization based in the Charlotte market. This is a key leadership position responsible for overseeing all accounting and financial operations while partnering closely with executive leadership to support continued growth and profitability.
The ideal candidate will bring a strong construction accounting background, extensive financial leadership experience, and a deep understanding of project-based accounting within a general contracting environment.
Requirements- 10+ years of experience as a Controller within the construction industry.
- Extensive knowledge of construction accounting principles, including WIP reporting, percentage-of-completion accounting, job costing, cash flow management, and project forecasting.
- Hands-on Viewpoint Vista experience is required.
- Experience managing accounting teams and developing accounting processes and controls.
- Strong understanding of financial reporting, budgeting, audits, banking relationships, and risk management.
- Bachelor's degree in Accounting, Finance, or related field.
- CPA designation is preferred but not required.
- Lead all accounting and financial operations for the company.
- Oversee monthly, quarterly, and annual financial reporting.
- Manage WIP schedules, job cost reporting, revenue recognition, and project financial analysis.
- Develop and maintain budgeting, forecasting, and cash flow management processes.
- Partner with operations and project management teams to monitor project profitability and financial performance.
- Oversee accounts payable, accounts receivable, payroll, and general ledger functions.
- Manage external audits, tax preparation, and banking relationships.
- Ensure compliance with all accounting standards, internal controls, and company policies.
- Mentor and develop accounting staff while driving continuous process improvement.
- General contractor, heavy civil, utility, infrastructure, commercial, industrial, or water/wastewater construction experience.
- Experience supporting organizations ranging from $50M to $200M+ in annual revenue.
- Strong leadership, communication, analytical, and organizational skills.
- Ability to operate as a strategic business partner to ownership and executive leadership.
