Carolina PRG is working with a privately held, growing commercial real estate investment and management company in Charlotte is seeking a Senior Accountant / Accounting Manager to join its team.
This is a broad, hands-on role with ownership of the accounting and financial reporting for a portfolio of commercial real estate assets. The position will work closely with property management, asset management, and senior leadership and offers exposure well beyond traditional month-end accounting.

What You’ll Do- Lead month-end and year-end close for a portfolio of commercial real estate properties
- Prepare monthly, quarterly, and annual financial reporting
- Prepare and review journal entries, account reconciliations, accruals, and variance analysis
- Support annual budgeting, forecasting, and longer-term financial planning
- Monitor property-level cash flow and assist with cash forecasting and liquidity management
- Prepare lender reporting and support compliance with debt covenants and financing requirements
Perform CAM reconciliations and oversee tenant billing adjustments - Manage lease accounting and ensure accurate reporting of lease activity
- Analyze property performance and provide financial insights to asset management and leadership
- Partner with property managers and other internal stakeholders to resolve accounting issues and improve processes
- Support annual audits and tax preparation
- Identify opportunities to strengthen reporting, internal controls, and overall accounting efficiency
- Mentor and provide guidance to junior accounting team members as needed
- 5-10+ years of progressive accounting or finance experience
- Commercial real estate accounting experience, ideally supporting office, industrial, retail, warehouse, or mixed-use assets
- Strong understanding of:
- Property and portfolio financial reporting
- Budgeting and forecasting
- Cash flow management
- Debt compliance and lender reporting
- CAM reconciliations
- Lease accounting
- Experience with a commercial real estate/property accounting system such as Timberline, Yardi, MRI, App Folio Commercial, or Real Page
- Advanced Excel and strong financial analysis skills
- Prior experience mentoring or supervising accounting staff is preferred
- Bachelor’s degree in Accounting, Finance, or a related field
- CPA or CPA-track experience is a plus, but not required
