TIAA's Corporate Controller group is looking for an experienced Senior Analyst to support the statutory accounting and financial reporting activities across our insurance and reinsurance operations. This role is responsible for preparing and reviewing the statutory accounting and reporting for insurance and reinsurance activities as well as the general ledger close process for related activities.
Key Responsibilities and Duties- Participate in the close process related to insurance and reinsurance activities, ensuring timely and accurate reporting
- Prepare and review journal entries associated with insurance and reinsurance activities
- Ensure journal entries are properly supported, accurately classified, and compliant with accounting policy
- Maintain strong controls over journal entry preparation, review, and approval workflows
- Prepare and review balance sheet and other reconciliation processes across insurance and reinsurance balances
- Perform reconciliations timely, accurately, and with appropriate supporting documentation
- Review and resolve reconciling items, escalating significant issues as needed
- Implement efficiency improvements in close, reconciliation, and reporting workflows, including automation and standardization across US and India teams
- Coordinate with external auditors and prepare audit requests for insurance and reinsurance activities
- Prepare certain disclosures and schedules within TIAA's annual statement for the general account (Blue Book) and separate accounts (Green Books) as well as the audited financial statements
- Provide supporting documentation to our Bermuda service providers and auditors for certain Bermuda based insurance subsidiaries and perform the related US Statutory accounting
- Comply with and maintain evidence for internal controls over accounting and financial reporting for insurance and reinsurance activities
- Assist with overseeing our India-based teammates that perform certain journal entries, reconciliations and reporting disclosures
- Partner cross-functionally with Actuarial, FP&A, Tax, Treasury and Legal teams
- University (Degree) Preferred

Actual base salary may vary based upon, but not limited to, relevant experience, time in role, base salary of internal peers, prior performance, business sector, and geographic location. In addition to base salary, the competitive compensation package may include, depending on the role, participation in an incentive program linked to performance (for example, annual discretionary incentive programs, non-annual sales incentive plans, or other non-annual incentive plans).
