Senior Accountant – Fund & Real Estate Accounting
Charlotte, NC | Hybrid
A growing investment firm is looking for a Senior Accountant to join its Charlotte-based finance team. This is a broad accounting role for someone who wants to move beyond traditional audit work, gain direct exposure to senior leadership, and build toward a future Controller or CFO-level position.
The Senior Accountant will work closely with the Controller and CFO across the full accounting cycle, fund reporting, investor activity, and other finance initiatives. The team is lean, so this person will have the opportunity to take meaningful ownership and expand their responsibilities as the firm grows.
Key Responsibilities- Support the monthly, quarterly, and annual close processes
- Prepare journal entries, accruals, and account reconciliations
- Assist with financial statement preparation and management reporting
- Maintain accounting records for investment entities and underlying assets
- Track investor activity, ownership balances, and related transactions
- Support cash activity, funding requests, and investor distributions
- Coordinate accounting information with outside administrators and auditors
- Prepare schedules and documentation for annual audits
- Review financial results and research account variances
- Help maintain effective controls and accurate financial records
- Improve reporting processes and identify opportunities for greater efficiency
- Partner with investment and operations professionals on financial matters
- Assist the Controller and CFO with special projects as needed
- Bachelor’s degree in Accounting, Finance, or a related field
- 2-4 years public accounting
- CPA required; candidates who have completed multiple sections of the CPA exam may also be considered
- Strong foundation in GAAP, financial reporting, and general ledger accounting
- Strong Excel skills and comfort learning new accounting systems
- Detail-oriented with the ability to manage multiple deadlines
- Motivated, hands-on, and interested in taking on increasing responsibility
- Strong communication and problem-solving skills
