Billing Specialist
Location: Charlotte, NC
Job Type: Contract
Schedule: Monday–Friday, 8:00 AM–5:00 PM
Pay Rate: $18.50
We are seeking a detail-oriented Specialist, Billing to review and analyze carrier freight bills, identify billing discrepancies and duplicate charges, and support accurate and timely customer billing.
The ideal candidate will have experience in accounts receivable, accounts payable, audit, transportation, logistics, or load planning, along with strong analytical, communication, and problem-solving skills.
Key Responsibilities- Review and analyze carrier freight bills for accuracy.
- Identify and proactively resolve billing errors and duplicate charges.
- Facilitate accurate billing of customer orders.
- Communicate with internal and external stakeholders to resolve outstanding billing issues.
- Ensure issues are addressed promptly and the appropriate parties are engaged for resolution.
- Work with internal departments to resolve issues preventing orders from being billed.
- Partner with transportation providers to obtain required documentation for customer billing.
- Maintain quality and service levels when working with internal and external customers.
- Learn and effectively use internal systems and technologies required for daily billing activities.
- Support improvements to the billing cycle from carrier freight bill through customer payment.
- Identify opportunities to improve billing processes and operational efficiency.
- At least 1 year of experience in one or more of the following:
- Accounts Receivable
- Accounts Payable
- Audit
- Transportation
- Logistics
- Load Planning
- Strong attention to detail and problem-solving abilities.
- Excellent verbal and written communication skills.
- Ability to manage and resolve issues in a timely manner.
- Ability to organize and present information clearly and accurately.
- Associate degree in Business, Transportation, Logistics, or a related field.
- Experience with Microsoft Office, particularly Excel.
- Experience working with freight bills, carrier documentation, billing, invoicing, or transportation operations.
- Ability to work effectively with multiple internal departments and external partners.
- Strong customer-service mindset and ability to work in a fast-paced environment.
