Role Overview
Our client is seeking a Staff Accountant to join their team in Charlotte, NC. This is an excellent opportunity for an accounting professional looking to build on their experience in a collaborative and fast-paced environment. The ideal candidate will play a key role in the month-end close process, balance sheet reconciliations, and continuous improvement initiatives while supporting the overall accounting function.
Key Responsibilities- Assist with monthly, quarterly, and year-end close activities to ensure timely and accurate financial reporting
- Prepare and record journal entries, accruals, and other month-end adjustments
- Complete balance sheet reconciliations and investigate/resolution of reconciling items
- Analyze account activity and investigate variances to ensure accuracy of financial results
- Maintain general ledger accounts and support the integrity of financial data
- Assist with documenting and improving accounting processes to enhance efficiency and strengthen internal controls
- Support audit requests and provide documentation for internal and external audits
- Collaborate with cross-functional teams to resolve accounting issues and improve workflows
- Ensure compliance with company policies, accounting standards, and internal procedures
- Participate in special projects and other accounting-related responsibilities as assigned
- Bachelor's degree in Accounting, Finance, or a related field
- 1-3+ years of accounting experience preferred
- Experience supporting month-end close and preparing journal entries
- Strong understanding of balance sheet reconciliations and general ledger accounting
- Familiarity with U.S. GAAP principles
- Proficiency in Microsoft Excel; ERP experience is a plus
- Strong analytical, organizational, and problem-solving skills
- Excellent communication skills and ability to work effectively in a team environment
- CPA designation or progress toward certification is a plus
