Accounts Payable Supervisor​/Manager

Description We are looking for an experienced Accounts Payable Supervisor/Manager to lead a high-volume payables function in Charlotte, North Carolina. This role is ideal for a hands-on leader who can bring structure, urgency, and accountability to a fast-moving environment while supporting strong relationships with branch teams and vendors. The ideal candidate combines deep technical knowledge of AP operations with the ability to improve workflows, guide a distributed team, and keep pace with a transaction-heavy business.

Responsibilities:

- Lead daily accounts payable operations in a high-volume environment, ensuring invoices, payments, and vendor activity are handled accurately and on schedule.

- Supervise and support AP staff across multiple locations, providing clear direction, setting expectations, and helping the team maintain strong performance.

- Review invoice coding, payment processing, check runs, and ACH transactions to maintain accuracy, consistency, and timely completion.

- Address aged payables and outstanding backlog issues by prioritizing critical items, resolving payment delays, and reducing vendor credit hold concerns.

- Partner closely with branch leaders and internal stakeholders to improve communication, resolve escalations, and build confidence in the AP function.

- Identify inefficiencies in current workflows and implement practical process improvements that strengthen controls and increase throughput.

- Serve as a working manager who can step into day-to-day processing when needed while continuing to lead the broader function.

- Use Sage Intacct and related operating systems to manage AP activity, support invoice flow, and maintain reliable financial records.

- Coordinate with leadership on operational priorities, reporting needs, and ongoing efforts to stabilize and enhance payables performance. Requirements - Proven experience leading accounts payable operations in a fast-paced, high-transaction business environment.

- Strong hands-on knowledge of Sage Intacct is required.

- Background managing invoice coding, check runs, ACH payments, and day-to-day AP processing.

- Demonstrated ability to lead and motivate a team while also contributing directly to transactional work when necessary.

- Effective communication skills with the ability to work collaboratively across branches, departments, and vendor relationships.

- Track record of improving AP processes, reducing backlogs, and bringing organization to complex workflows.

- Experience in private equity-backed, business-to-consumer, or similarly fast-moving operational settings is highly preferred.

- Industry background in slower-moving environments such as government, education, or healthcare will not be considered for this role.
