The NC Department of Adult Correction is one of the largest state agencies with more than 14,000 employees. It is responsible for safeguarding and preserving lives and property through prevention, protection, and preparation as well as the care, custody, and supervision of all adults sentenced for violating North Carolina laws. This department includes state prisons with custody, healthcare, and facility operations staff as well as probation/parole officers who supervised sentenced people in the community.

Other divisions include Administration, Health Services, Rehabilitation & Reentry, Special Operations and the Post-Release Supervision & Parole Commission. We have a mission that matters!

• Providing direct clerical assistance to the Administrative Officer.
• Providing clerical support to the Administrative Services and Human Resources sections daily.
• Processing weekly time sheets for staff.
• Composing and mailing correspondence, as needed.
• Completing weekly and monthly reports, maintaining records, and performing systematic filing.
• Answering and routing incoming calls and using various types of office machines.
• Operating a computer and using various types of computer software, including Microsoft Office software (Access, Excel, Outlook, and Word).
• Functioning independently and possessing good communication skills (both verbally and written).
• Working knowledge of office practices and procedures.

Salary Range: $31,200 - $51,249

This is a full-time position (40 hours per week) with State Benefits.

Harnett Correctional Institution is located in Lillington, North Carolina and houses up to 988 male offenders in a medium custody facility.
