Where you will be:

You will be based in our Charlotte, NC location. This will start at 8:00 am and end at 5:00 pm Monday through Friday on a hybrid policy schedule.

All about the role:

The U.S. Customs Operations Manager is responsible for leading and executing the company’s import and export compliance operations, ensuring adherence to U.S. Customs and Border Protection (CBP) regulations and global trade requirements. This role oversees Customs Broker relationships, manages day‑to‑day trade operations, ensures data accuracy, mitigates compliance risks, and drives continuous improvement across the end‑to‑end customs process.

Key Responsibilities:
  • Lead day‑to‑day U.S. import and export compliance operations, ensuring adherence to CBP regulations, global trade requirements, and internal company policies.
  • Partner with the Senior Manager, North America Customs Compliance to implement company‑wide customs and export control compliance strategies.
  • Develop, maintain, and enhance processes, procedures, and controls that ensure full compliance with CBP, partner government agencies, and global trade standards.
  • Oversee accuracy and timeliness of all 10+2 Importer Security Filing (ISF) submissions.
  • Ensure proper qualification, documentation, and compliance with USMCA, other Free Trade Agreements, special trade programs, and Other Government Agency (OGA) requirements.
  • Monitor and ensure operational adherence to provisional tariffs and Anti‑Dumping/Countervailing Duty (AD/CVD) orders, including necessary reporting and documentation.
  • Lead the design, delivery, and continuous improvement of training programs for trade compliance personnel across decentralized sites and product lines.
  • Manage and optimize Customs Broker relationships, including setting KPIs, conducting audits, ensuring POA controls, and driving broker performance improvements through formal measurement programs.
  • Maintain all CBP‑required import/export records in accordance with 19 CFR 163 (a)(1)(A) list requirements.
  • Conduct logistical and trade data analyses to identify cost savings, operational efficiency opportunities, and process improvements.
  • Track changes in the U.S. tariff landscape and evaluate their impact on sourcing, imports, suppliers, and operational costs; provide guidance and oversight to ensure compliant execution.
  • Serve as an internal customs auditor, leading corrective actions, process enhancements, and risk‑mitigation initiatives.
  • Ensure accurate classification of imported items under the Harmonized Tariff System (HTS) and maintain supporting documentation.
  • Standardize Desk Level Procedures (DLPs) aligned with regulatory requirements and company policies.
  • Champion continuous improvement initiatives that streamline customs processes, strengthen controls, and support best‑in‑class compliance practices.
  • Achieve defined customs‑related KPIs and contribute to broader supply chain and compliance performance goals.
  • Support the Director of Customs & Trade Compliance and the Senior Manager, North America Customs Compliance in evolving and optimizing the company’s import/export compliance framework.
Minimum Qualifications:
  • A Bachelor s Degree in Business or other related major.
  • At least ten years business experience including five or more years  experience in international trade and customs compliance, preferably in a multi-national environment. Government experience is acceptable in lieu of some business experience.
  • Customs Broker’s License preferred.
