What you'll doThe Product Specialist is an entry-level technical expert responsible for supporting product knowledge, customer inquiries, and sales initiatives related to assigned roofing products and systems. This role works closely with Sales, Product Management, and vendor partners to provide technical guidance, assist with deal preparation, and ensure accurate product information is communicated to customers and contractors. The Product Specialist plays a key role in maintaining product expertise, supporting product launches, and contributing to overall commercial success.
Key Responsibilities- Provide product and system guidance to Sales teams and contractors, serving as a resource for basic technical questions and product inquiries.
- Support Product Managers in preparing takeoffs, quotes, proposals, and related project documentation.
- Maintain up-to-date knowledge across assigned roofing product categories, including features, benefits, and applications.
- Track and communicate product performance trends, availability updates, and pricing issues to relevant stakeholders.
- Assist with new product launches, sales enablement efforts, training sessions, and updates to product collateral or resources.
- Collaborate with vendors and manufacturers to obtain product information, clarifications, and technical details.
- Escalate complex technical or application questions to Product Managers or senior technical resources as appropriate.
- Partner cross-functionally with Sales, Operations, and Product Management teams to support project execution and customer satisfaction.
- Bachelor’s degree in business, construction management, engineering, or a related field preferred (or equivalent experience).
- 0–2 years of experience in construction materials, distribution, commercial roofing, or a related technical support role.
- Strong interest in developing technical expertise within roofing products and systems.
- Effective communication and collaboration skills, with the ability to support both internal teams and external customers.
- Detail-oriented with strong organizational and problem-solving abilities.
- Proficiency in Microsoft Office; experience with CRM or ERP systems is a plus.
- Ability to interpret basic technical documentation and product specifications.
- Customer-focused mindset with a proactive approach to learning and development.
