Position Overview

Albemarle is hiring for a Director, Transformation Office in Charlotte, NC. This hybrid role supports the Chief Transformation Officer and the enterprise transformation office through rigorous program management, executive synthesis, cross‑functional coordination, and value capture.

Core Responsibilities
  • Driving transformation performance and value realization across the portfolio.
  • Serving as a trusted challenger and thought partner to senior leaders.
  • Translating complex performance data into clear executive insights and decisions.
Key Duties
  • Serve as a constructive challenger to pillar sponsors, workstream leaders, and initiative owners—stress‑testing assumptions and elevating plans to be more ambitious, executable, and aligned to enterprise value.
  • Operate as a senior extension of the Chief Transformation Officer, reinforcing expectations, driving alignment, and selectively intervening to sustain performance momentum across the transformation.
  • Drive performance rigor across initiatives by identifying underperformance early, challenging root causes, and ensuring clear actions are defined and owned.
  • Coordinate across multiple transformation work streams and functional teams to maintain alignment, sequencing, and delivery discipline.
  • Support executive governance processes, leadership reviews, and decision‑making forums with clear recommendations and actionable insights.
  • Develop concise executive‑level materials, strategic synthesis, and performance updates for senior leadership.
  • Translate complex transformation performance into clear, concise executive narratives that drive decision‑making and alignment.
  • Track KPIs, milestones, risks, dependencies, and value capture—ensuring outcomes are credible, measurable and realized (not just reported).
  • Escalate risks, gaps, bottlenecks, and underperformance proactively to enable timely intervention and decision‑making.
  • Identify and help resolve cross‑functional barriers that could slow delivery or reduce impact.
  • Support prioritization and evolution of the transformation portfolio through data‑driven insights, scenario analysis, and clear trade‑off recommendations to leadership.
  • Ensure transformation initiatives are delivered against plan with clear visibility to value, risks, and mitigation actions.
  • Underperformance is surfaced early, with clear root cause and corrective actions in place.
  • Pillar sponsors and initiative owners operate with higher rigor, accountability, and consistency.
  • Executive leadership has clear, concise views of performance and key decisions required.
  • Cross‑functional bottlenecks are proactively identified and resolved before impacting delivery.
  • The transformation office is viewed as a critical driver of performance—not just reporting.
Required Qualifications
  • Bachelor’s degree in Business, Engineering, Finance, Economics, Operations, or a related field.
  • Approximately 6‑10 years of experience in management consulting, transformation, PMO, strategic program leadership, operating model redesign, or enterprise performance improvement roles.
  • Demonstrated experience supporting enterprise transformations, cost and productivity programs, operating model redesign, or large‑scale cross‑functional change initiatives.
  • Strong executive communication and presentation capabilities, including the ability to synthesize complex information into concise leadership materials and recommendations.
  • Proven ability to challenge assumptions constructively, influence senior leaders, and drive accountability without direct line ownership.
  • Strong program management discipline with experience tracking KPIs, milestones, risks, dependencies, and value realization across a portfolio of initiatives.
Preferred Qualifications
  • MBA or other advanced degree in Business, Engineering, Finance, Economics, or a related field.
  • Experience in a top‑tier strategy consulting or transformation advisory environment strongly preferred.
  • Approximately 2+ years of post‑MBA consulting experience in transformation, performance improvement, or strategic execution.
  • Experience in industrials, chemicals, mining, manufacturing, energy, or energy‑transition sectors.
  • Experience working with executive governance processes, transformation offices, enterprise PMOs, or value capture offices.
  • Track record of operating effectively in high‑visibility roles that require sound judgment, executive presence, and the ability to create clarity in ambiguous environments.
Benefits
  • Competitive compensation.
  • Comprehensive benefits package.
  • A diverse array of resources to support you professionally and personally.
