Its portfolio includes established brands across a range of price points and product categories, creating a broad platform across major home-improvement and retail customers.
The business continues to invest in stronger channel capabilities that connect portfolio strategy, retailer insight, assortment decisions, and execution.
The OpportunityAmerican Bath Group is creating a dedicated Channel Manager, Retail role to bring deeper analytical and assortment leadership to a strategically important group of major retail accounts.
As the business and portfolio have grown, the work has become increasingly complex. Success requires more than broad channel support. The organization needs a leader who can understand how individual retailers go to market, evaluate portfolio performance at the SKU and assortment level, and turn POS, inventory, margin, GMROI, and productivity data into clear recommendations that merchants and internal commercial leaders can act on.
This role sits at the intersection of channel strategy, category management, sales operations, merchandising, and customer execution. It is designed for someone who is comfortable moving from detailed analysis to a customer conversation and then staying engaged through implementation.
Success in Year OneIn the first year, the Channel Manager will establish a dedicated, repeatable approach to managing retail assortment performance and channel insight.
Success means the organization is making better assortment and shelf-space decisions, using retailer data more consistently, bringing stronger recommendations into customer discussions, and translating approved decisions into effective execution.
The role should also reduce dependence on ad hoc support by establishing a practical operating cadence that Sales and cross-functional partners can rely on.
The MandateBuild dedicated retail-channel capability that converts portfolio and retailer data into merchant-facing assortment decisions, wins productive shelf space, improves portfolio economics, and installs a repeatable operating cadence that Sales can rely on.
The Channel Manager will personally diagnose assortment opportunities, develop recommendations, shape the supporting commercial story, and present those recommendations alongside Sales in customer conversations.
The role will also lead the project work required to move an assortment decision from analysis through line review, commercialization, planogram or reset activity, and follow-through.
This person is expected to develop an independent point of view. The strongest contribution will not be simply providing data to Sales, but interpreting that data, identifying the right action, and constructively challenging assumptions when the economics point to a different answer.
Year One Critical Outcomes- Convert retail assortment analysis into merchant-approved SKU, distribution, planogram, or shelf-space changes that strengthen the company’s position with major retail customers.
- Improve assortment productivity and portfolio economics using POS, inventory, GMROI, margin, productivity, and related retail performance measures.
- Establish a track record of merchant adoption by personally presenting data-driven recommendations and helping convert those recommendations into customer decisions.
- Build a repeatable retail-channel operating cadence, including stronger line-review and reset preparation, recurring POS and inventory reviews, clear action ownership, and disciplined planning around the retail calendar.
- Improve how business requirements are translated into useful dashboards and reporting so commercial teams can move from information to action more quickly.
- Establish strong working credibility across Sales, product, finance, marketing, project management, data resources, and other partners involved in assortment execution.
The challenge is the combination of analytical depth and commercial execution.
The person must be able to work at the SKU and portfolio level without becoming only an analyst. The value of the role comes from turning analysis into a point of view, communicating that point of view clearly, and helping the organization and customer act on it.
The operating environment also moves according to the retailer’s calendar rather than an internally controlled planning cycle. Priorities can shift quickly…
