Pitt Community College is accepting applications for Part-Time Summer Camp Assistants for the 2026 Explore Summer Camps! The Summer Camp Assistant oversees daily operations and activities of the summer camp program for campers, ensuring a safe, fun and high-quality experience. This role supports the camp director, camp assistant and volunteers/camp instructors.
This is a part-time, seasonal position running from June 15, 2026 - August 13, 2026.
Pay rate $15-18/hr, based on experience.
- Assist Director and assistant with daily camp schedule.
- Work with children ages 7-18
- Maintain a safe and clean camp environment and help organize classroom equipment and supplies before and after camps each day.
- Provide guidance to parents/guardians as needed addressing questions, concerns and feedback.
- Assist with camper check-in and check-out
- Effective and clear communication with the camp director in addressing incidents, safety concerns, etc.
- May occasionally need to take items/materials to another camp (either on campus or off campus).

At least 3-5 years of experience working with children in a camp or school system.
Must be at least 18 years old.
Work Environment:All camps, with the exception of a few held off campus, are in classrooms, labs or computer labs. Camp Assistants may be outside for drop off and pick up, occasionally will go to other buildings on campus to check on camps/instructors, etc.
Physical Demands:Ability to participate in a range of indoor and outdoor activities. Must be able to stand for long periods, walk to and from buildings/classrooms, and occasionally lifting materials up to 40 lbs. Capable of working in various weather conditions. Ability to work in sometimes high-energy, often noisy environment.
NormalWorking Hours:
Monday-Thursday 8/8:30AM-4:30PM (will depend on camps each week and the weekly needs).
