Morgan Corp. is currently searching for a Geostructural Superintendent.

Our growing Industrial Division is a multi-disciplined construction group that self-performs Concrete, Electrical, Structural, and Pipe scopes in industrial process facilities. The Industrial Division is based in our Spartanburg office and performs work throughout the Southeast.

Our team is growing, and we are seeking discipline-specific (civil/electrical/pipe/structural) or multi-disciplined Superintendent to continue to grow. The ideal candidate is a strong leader who acts with integrity and leads by example.

Morgan Corp.’s Geostructural Division services include:
  • Design Build Geostructural/Geotechnical Construction
  • Traditional and Specialty Foundation piles (Driven piles, Sheet piles, Micropiles, Helical piers, etc.)
  • Grouting and Shotcrete Systems (Shotcrete Walls, Rock Anchors, Tiebacks, etc.)

Our scopes sometimes come from an engineered set of drawings provided to us by a client, but often our scopes are developed as a team with the client in response to a unique site condition issue that has developed. As such, this position requires a strong problem‑solving skillset and a desire to develop solutions that strike a balance between constructability and design.

Responsibilities:
  • Oversees all facets of concrete work and holds ultimate responsibility for the quality of work
  • Schedules labor, materials, subcontractors, and equipment
  • Provides technical assistance and direction to crews and subcontractors, resolving issues as required
  • Trains drillers and pile drivers on various equipment and techniques related to various types of deep foundations (driven piles, micropiles, helical piles, etc.), and shoring walls (soil nail, soldier pile, sheet pile, etc.)
  • Establishes and maintains professional working relationships with site staff, owners, engineers, subcontractors, and suppliers
  • Sets productivity goals, measures performance, and submits required reports as required by contract and company procedures
  • Represents the Company in meetings with owner, client, and subcontractors
  • Monitors and ensures compliance with site safety policies and procedures
  • Initiates and participates in personnel actions including hiring, discipline, evaluation and promotion of employees, and terminations
  • Ensures compliance with company policies and procedures
  • May perform other related duties as assigned
Qualifications:
  • At least 5 years of related experience and training as a Foreman, Field Engineer, and/or Superintendent
  • Thorough knowledge of multiple types of geostructural work (drilling, pile driving, etc.)
  • Proficiency in operating drills, pile rigs, and or cranes is a plus
  • Experience with other types of construction, including but not limited to cast‑in‑place concrete and earthwork, is a plus
  • Effective oral and written communication skills
  • Ability to read, understand, and analyze plans and specifications
  • Sense of urgency and ability to respond to changing situations
  • Ability to adapt, prioritize, and complete projects in a changing construction environment
  • Ability to effectively communicate plans and work schedules at all levels
  • Ability to build a collaborative and effective team
  • Unyielding commitment to safe work practices
  • Able to formulate sound decisions using available information
  • Valid driver's license and ability to drive a truck
  • Ability to use smartphones, iPads, and computers
  • Ability and willingness to travel and work out of town for extended periods

Work is performed outside in all types of environmental conditions. While performing the essential functions of this job, the Superintendent will regularly stand, walk, use hands to finger, handle, and manipulate objects, reach with hands and arms, lift above the head, bend to the waist, squat, talk, and hear. Occasionally climb ladders, crawl in tight or confined spaces, and lift, move, or push up to 75 pounds.

Specific vision requirements include near, far, and color vision. Ascend or descend stairs as well as walk on uneven terrain. Work in construction areas poses a greater risk due to moving equipment and potential trip and fall hazards. Regularly be exposed to varying temperatures (high and low) and loud noises.
