Estimator - Civil/Grading/Utilities

Compensation Based on Experience.

$90,000 - $120,000 per year | Charlotte, NC | On-Site | Permanent

Job Details

We are currently seeking a passionate and detail-oriented Permanent Estimator in the Civil/Grading/Utilities sector of the Construction industry. The successful candidate will join our dynamic team and play a crucial role in the cost management and budgeting of our diverse construction projects.

This role requires a deep understanding of construction, civil, grading, and utility construction, as well as strong skills in blueprint reading and material take-out (MTO).

The ideal candidate will have a minimum of five years of experience in a similar role and a strong track record of delivering accurate and timely estimates.

Responsibilities
  • Conduct detailed analysis of construction documents, designs, and specifications to prepare time, cost, materials, and labor estimates.
  • Review data to determine material and labor requirements and prepare itemized lists for project execution.
  • Collaborate with project managers, engineers, and contractors to provide detailed estimates and cost forecasts.
  • Utilize expertise in civil, grading, and utilities construction to provide accurate and competitive estimates.
  • Prepare and maintain a directory of suppliers, contractors, and subcontractors.
  • Utilize software for data analysis, forecasting, and budgeting.
  • Review and evaluate cost estimates to ensure accuracy and completeness.
  • Present prepared estimates for internal and client approvals.
  • Monitor industry trends to help anticipate potential cost increases.
  • Participate in proposal preparation and client presentations.
  • Qualifications
  • Bachelor’s degree in Engineering, Construction Management, or related field.
  • Minimum of five years of experience as an Estimator in the Construction industry, specifically in civil, grading, and utilities construction.
  • Proficient in cost management and budgeting.
  • Strong skills in blueprint reading and material take-out (MTO).
  • Excellent analytical and mathematical skills.
  • Proficient in relevant software applications, including MS Office and estimating software.
  • Strong written and verbal communication skills.
  • Exceptional attention to detail and accuracy.
  • Ability to work under pressure and meet tight deadlines.
  • Strong negotiation and decision-making skills.
  • Proven ability to work effectively both independently and in a team-based environment.
  • Knowledge of the local market and suppliers is a plus.
