Build Projects That Shape Communities

We are conducting a confidential search for an experienced Project Manager to join a highly respected commercial general contractor specializing in complex institutional and public‑sector construction projects. This organization delivers impactful projects throughout the education, municipal, public safety, and commercial sectors, with project values ranging from $20 million to over $100 million. Their reputation has been built on strong client relationships, quality execution, and a commitment to long‑term growth.

The Project Manager will play a critical role in overseeing the financial, contractual, and operational success of assigned projects from preconstruction through final closeout.

Position Summary

The Project Manager is responsible for the overall administrative and financial management of assigned construction projects. This individual will collaborate closely with owners, architects, engineers, subcontractors, and field leadership to ensure projects are delivered safely, on schedule, within budget, and to the highest quality standards.

This position is ideal for a construction professional who thrives in a collaborative environment, takes ownership of project outcomes, and enjoys managing complex commercial and institutional projects.

Key Responsibilities
  • Manage all phases of construction projects from startup through closeout.
  • Develop and maintain project budgets, forecasts, and financial reporting.
  • Prepare, submit, and manage owner pay applications.
  • Negotiate and administer subcontract agreements.
  • Manage RFIs, submittals, change orders, and project documentation.
  • Monitor project schedules and coordinate with field leadership to maintain project milestones.
  • Identify potential project risks and implement mitigation strategies.
  • Lead meetings with owners, architects, consultants, and subcontractors.
  • Ensure compliance with contract requirements and project specifications.
  • Coordinate project closeout activities, including owner training, attic stock, warranty documentation, and final turnover.
  • Maintain strong client relationships throughout the project lifecycle.
Qualifications
  • Bachelor's Degree in Construction Management, Engineering, or a related field preferred.
  • 5+ years of Project Management experience within commercial construction.
  • Experience managing institutional, educational, municipal, healthcare, public safety, or other public‑sector projects strongly preferred.
  • Proven experience managing projects ranging from $10 million to $100+ million.
  • Strong understanding of project budgeting, forecasting, scheduling, contract administration, and project controls.
  • Experience with Procore, Microsoft Office Suite, and construction management software.
  • Excellent communication, leadership, negotiation, and relationship‑building skills.
  • Ability to manage multiple priorities in a fast‑paced construction environment.
Ideal Background

Successful candidates will possess a demonstrated track record of delivering commercial or institutional construction projects while maintaining strong client relationships and financial performance.

Candidates with experience in K‑12 education, higher education, municipal, government, public safety, civic, healthcare, or other institutional construction environments are highly encouraged to apply.

Individuals who have spent the majority of their careers exclusively in multifamily construction may not possess the project experience most closely aligned with this opportunity.

What Makes This Opportunity Attractive
  • Long‑term career growth with an established and financially stable contractor.
  • Exposure to large, high‑profile institutional construction projects.
  • Strong company culture built around accountability, teamwork, and ownership.
  • Opportunity to work on projects that positively impact local communities.
  • Competitive compensation package, bonus opportunities, and comprehensive benefits.
