Job Overview
DPR Construction is seeking a Preconstruction Manager with at least 8+ years of healthcare construction experience. Precon Managers will work primarily on negotiated commercial projects within our core markets: healthcare, advanced technology, higher education, life sciences and corporate office.
Responsibilities- Handle the project from first estimate through subcontracts, including developing detailed conceptual cost estimates and cost studies from schematic or feasibility‑level documentation.
- Prepare and present complete estimate packages, including variance summaries and value engineering studies as design evolves.
- Prepare detailed instructions to bidders, trade‑specific clarifications and comprehensive bid packages, and manage bidding process: soliciting bids, communicating with bidders, evaluating proposals, using bid tally sheets, and making subcontractor award recommendations.
- Lead preparation and presentation of cost/budget information to the customer/owner; participate in RFP responses and formal presentations.
- Lead and facilitate value engineering sessions with project and design teams.
- Review construction contracts, identify insurance and damages clauses.
- Lead, manage and motivate project teams during preconstruction phase.
- 8+ years of experience as a commercial construction estimator, preferably within the healthcare market.
- Proficient in Microsoft Office Suite, estimating software (Win Est, Timberline or similar), take‑off software (On‑Screen Takeoff or similar), BIM tools (Revit, Assemble, etc.), project management software (CMiC or similar), and scheduling software (Primavera or similar).
- Bachelor’s degree.
- Flexible, detail‑oriented team player with ability to manage multiple tasks, produce quality work and consistently meet deadlines.
- Excellent listening and communication skills; creative and innovative approach to problem solving.
- Ability to identify, adapt to, and resolve complex issues; effective participation in team environments, with both external and internal teammates.
- Strong work ethic and a can-do attitude.
