Position Summary:
Landmark Builders is seeking a full-time, experienced Estimator. Working as an integral part of the Landmark Builders preconstruction team, this Estimator will provide estimating services across all market segments and all delivery methods, including design-build, construction manager, design-bid-build, negotiated, guaranteed maximum price, and lump sum commercial construction projects.
Key Responsibilities:Estimating & Preconstruction
- Thoroughly study plans and specifications and visit sites as necessary to confirm all project requirements.
- Coordinate with Preconstruction Managers, clients, and design team as needed to deliver accurate estimates through the various stages of preconstruction.
- Provide detailed and accurate estimates with accompanying supporting documents to include all necessary takeoffs and vendor quotes.
- Coordinate scope reviews with subcontractors and suppliers to comprehensively understand proposals and avoid scope gaps and project risks.
- Establish and maintain relationships with the local subcontractor community.
- Prequalify new subcontractors as required to provide good sub-coverage and quality estimates for regional (out-of-town) projects.
- This position may require some day or overnight travel for meetings, design reviews, budget presentations, and site visits.
Experience & Technical Knowledge
- Bachelor’s degree in a related curriculum or equivalent work experience.
- 5–10+ years of experience in commercial construction as an Estimator preferred.
- Good understanding of construction types, methods, materials, and building systems.
- Knowledge of cost of materials, trades, building types, and systems, as well as general conditions, overhead, and profit.
- Understanding of various project delivery methods.
- Working knowledge of CSI divisions and how construction projects are priced and bought out.
- Proficiency with computer spreadsheets (Excel) and ability to learn new estimating software.
- Strong organizational skills, time management, and attention to detail.
- Ability to communicate with the Landmark preconstruction team, customers, designers, and vendors clearly and effectively.
