- Microsoft Office (Word, Excel, Project, Powerpoint), ability to communicate clearly and timely with Preconstruction Team members and Customer.
- Knowledge of takeoff methods and experience using takeoff software (e-takeoff, Plan Swift, On-Screen takeoff, etc.)
- General construction experience and knowledge of methods and processes.
Bid Pre-Planning/Setup:
- Receive bid announcements (Invitation to Bid “ITB”) from Preconstruction Manager or Customer.
- Set deadline for bid review and manage time to meet end date.
- Organization skills and timeliness for bids are a must.
- Set up subcontractor/vendor bid list. Contact vendors/suppliers to make sure communication is clear concerning upcoming bid.
- Send bid documents (drawings, specs, soils report, addenda, etc.) to subs via email or Egnyte.
- Vendors may include Concrete, Rebar, Post-tension, Place & Finish subs, Crane suppliers, Stone, Formwork, among others.
- Organize and keep track of all documents - i.e.
- drawings, specifications, addenda, bid alternates, RFP proposal, etc throughout the bid process. - Perform a complete quantity takeoff utilizing Etakeoff, Bridge, and Sage Timberline software. Prior knowledge of these systems is a plus, training will be provided.
- Utilize Microsoft Project to create an initial Bid Schedule.
- Perform a takeoff of the formwork materials; input data into estimate.
- Research and input local sales tax specific to the project location.
- Knowledge of reviewing and adjusting estimates as needed.
- Work with operations leaders to ensure they have reviewed the bid documents and logistic requirements and General Conditions.
- Sr Estimator will be expected to review all documents associated with the bid, highlight the items of importance and notify Preconstruction Manager of key critical items.
- Review the estimate, bid schedule, and sub/vendor quotes with Preconstruction Manager in a timely manner before bid is due.
- Review and discuss any possible clarifications that may be required with the Preconstruction Manager, before bid submission.
- Follow-up with customer is critical to our bid success.
- Candidate must have initiative to follow up with bids and gain insight on the overall pricing of all concrete bidders.
