Sheet Metal Estimator
Our client is seeking an experienced Sheet Metal Estimator to support commercial HVAC and sheet metal fabrication projects. This role is ideal for someone with a strong understanding of duct fabrication, commercial HVAC systems, and estimating who enjoys collaborating with operations, fabrication, and preconstruction teams to deliver accurate, competitive bids.
You'll play a key role in developing estimates for fabrication and installation, reviewing construction documents, identifying scope gaps, and supporting projects from conceptual design through final bid.
Responsibilities- Prepare detailed sheet metal takeoffs using Trimble or similar estimating software.
- Estimate rectangular duct, spiral duct, fittings, specialty materials, and HVAC sheet metal systems.
- Develop estimates from complete drawings as well as conceptual designs, narratives, and partial construction documents.
- Generate material, fabrication labor, and field installation labor estimates.
- Review plans and specifications to identify duct systems, pressure classes, fabrication requirements, and missing scope.
- Apply SMACNA standards and industry best practices to estimating and fabrication.
- Identify constructability concerns, scope gaps, and value engineering opportunities.
- Coordinate with engineering, fabrication, project management, and estimating teams.
- Assist in developing competitive project pricing and bid strategies.
- Provide technical support throughout the estimating and preconstruction process.
- Minimum of 5 years of HVAC or sheet metal industry experience (fabrication experience preferred).
- Experience estimating commercial sheet metal and ductwork projects.
- Strong knowledge of duct systems, airflow principles, pressure classes, fabrication methods, and sheet metal materials.
- Ability to read and interpret construction drawings and project specifications.
- Experience with Trimble or similar estimating/takeoff software preferred.
- Familiarity with SMACNA standards.
- Strong analytical, organizational, and communication skills.
- Proficiency with Microsoft Office.
- Valid driver's license.
- Ability to successfully pass a background check and drug screening.
