Division Manager – Overview
The Division Manager is responsible for overall management direction for all divisional functions, including the profit/loss (P&L) of the organizational unit.
Key Responsibilities- Establish division objectives, policies, procedures and performance standards within corporate policy.
- Plan, staff and supervise all division activities including personnel administration, performance management, defining functions and responsibilities.
- Create an annual business plan with an operational budget that supports revenue and profitability goals.
- Ensure a positive cash‑flow position for the division.
- Maintain complete knowledge of the status of all projects.
- Instill and promote a "win‑win" attitude with Project Managers to ensure successful and profitable work for the company and satisfied customers.
- Coordinate efforts with the Business Development Group.
- Monitor overall quantity and quality of work performed by the division.
- Select/assign project team members based on experience and project needs.
- Maintain regular positive interface with General and/or Area Superintendent regarding field resources, quality control, safety and cost at completion.
- Interface with finance regarding revenue recognition, claims preparation, and job site support.
- Advanced knowledge of all aspects of construction required.
- Strong analytical and problem‑solving skills.
- Demonstrated record of successful project management in complex situations.
- Effective organizational, prioritization and time‑management skills.
- Accurate, detail‑oriented, dependable and punctual.
- Ability to solve practical problems and handle a variety of situations.
- Bachelor’s Degree in Business, Construction Management, or equivalent.
- Minimum ten (10) years extensive experience in the construction industry.
- Combination of training, education and relevant work experience may be considered equivalent.
Travel: 25%‑50%.
General work environment – sitting for long periods, standing, walking, typing, carrying, pushing, bending. Primarily indoors with varying conditions such as fluorescent lighting, air conditioning, noise level low to medium higher on job site. Occasional lifting up to 30 lbs.
