Estimator – Heavy Civil Construction - Charlotte

Overview

An established, employee-owned heavy civil contractor is looking to add a number of experienced Estimators to its growing Preconstruction team in Charlotte. With a strong pipeline of secured work across the Charlotte area, this is an excellent opportunity to join a business known for delivering complex civil infrastructure and site development projects while offering long-term career progression within a collaborative and supportive team.

As an Estimator, you'll play a key role in securing future projects by preparing accurate, competitive estimates and working closely with operations teams throughout the preconstruction process. You'll be involved in a diverse portfolio of heavy civil projects, helping shape successful bids from initial review through to handover.

• Commercial and industrial site development
• Distribution and logistics facilities
• Earthworks and grading
• Water, sewer and storm drainage infrastructure
• Roadway and heavy civil improvements

• Review plans, specifications and contract documents.
• Prepare detailed quantity take-offs and cost estimates.
• Obtain and evaluate subcontractor and supplier quotations.
• Develop competitive bids and pricing strategies.
• Identify project risks and value engineering opportunities.
• Collaborate with Project Managers and Operations teams during bid reviews and project handovers.
• Build and maintain strong relationships with clients, subcontractors and suppliers.

• Previous experience estimating heavy civil construction projects.
• Strong understanding of civil construction methods, quantities and pricing.
• Experience estimating projects involving earthworks, utilities, site development or roadway construction is highly desirable.
• Excellent analytical, organisational and communication skills.
• Ability to manage multiple bids while maintaining a high level of accuracy.
• A collaborative approach with a desire to contribute to a growing preconstruction team.
