Director of Construction

We are partnering with a well-established residential home builder to identify an experienced Director of Construction to lead construction operations across a high-volume, scattered-site (build-on-your-lot) portfolio.

This is a senior leadership opportunity for a construction professional with a proven track record of managing multiple projects, driving operational excellence, and leading high-performing teams. The ideal candidate will be passionate about quality, efficiency, customer satisfaction, and continuous process improvement.

Key Responsibilities

• Oversee all aspects of the residential homebuilding process from lot preparation through final closing and warranty service.
• Lead construction operations to ensure homes are delivered on schedule, within budget, and to established quality standards.
• Manage building systems, engineering coordination, estimating, vendor procurement, staffing, production overhead, construction schedules, and warranty operations.
• Direct high-volume scattered-site construction projects while maintaining exceptional quality and customer satisfaction.
• Develop, implement, and continuously improve construction processes, policies, specifications, and operational procedures.
• Drive improvements in construction cycle times, quality, cost control, and overall operational efficiency.
• Foster a safe, organized, and professional work environment for employees, trade partners, and homeowners.
• Lead the hiring, development, retention, and performance of construction personnel.
• Establish and maintain strong relationships with subcontractors, suppliers, inspectors, and other key stakeholders.
• Manage estimating, budgeting, and cost-control initiatives to maximize profitability while maintaining quality standards.

Qualifications

• Minimum of 10 years of high-volume residential homebuilding experience, including scattered-site (build-on-your-lot) construction of 40+ homes annually.
• At least 5 years of construction leadership or management experience.
• Strong knowledge of residential construction methods, building systems, sequencing, value engineering, and quality control.
• Thorough understanding of state and local building codes and residential construction standards.
• Ability to read and interpret architectural and engineered plans.
• Experience managing subcontractors, suppliers, field teams, and construction schedules.
• Demonstrated success leading multiple projects simultaneously while meeting aggressive timelines.
• Strong leadership, communication, organizational, and problem-solving skills.
• Proven ability to implement process improvements and drive operational excellence.
