Job Overview
MSS Solutions, LLC is hiring a Senior General Superintendent – Mechanical
. The role involves leading and managing large-scale mechanical construction projects, ensuring compliance with contract documents, building codes, and company standards.
- Supervise the actual physical construction of projects in strict accordance with contract documents, local & national building codes, and project‑specific compliance requirements.
- Oversee Mechanical Superintendents and trade‑specific superintendents on site.
- Collaborate with the Project Manager to document and maintain standard reports for delays, work‑arounds, shutdowns and tie‑ins.
- Resolve job‑site disputes; lead and inspire the team.
- Maintain satisfactory relationships with customers, subcontractors, vendors, and internal stakeholders.
- Perform quality assurance/control for all MSS‑related scope and schedule.
- Attend all inspections on assigned projects.
- Manage MSS tool‑tracking programs and enforce related processes.
- Forecast and manage labor and equipment requirements for assigned projects.
- Organize labor force to complete jobs on time and within budget.
- Read complex blueprints and equipment installation manuals.
- Provide solutions to project‑team and Field Ops Manager for complex job‑related problems.
- Liaise with client representatives.
- Track project progress and report to Field Ops Manager and Project Managers weekly.
- Manage safety on assigned projects and assist the Safety Manager in maintaining a safe working environment.
- Coordinate daily job operations with project managers.
- Manage subcontractor, vendor, and labor activities, ensuring accuracy and quality.
- Identify and report problems or deficiencies to the Project Manager and document on‑site activities that may impede progress or compliance.
- Interview and select field staff for the job‑site.
- Attend all project meetings.
- Perform safety talks and maintain check‑in sheets.
- Conduct performance reviews for employees on the project.
- Perform other duties and responsibilities as assigned by the company.
- Bachelor’s degree or completion of a technical training program (or equivalent) preferred.
- Minimum of 10 years of construction experience as a Superintendent on projects exceeding $20 million.
- Valid driver’s license with an acceptable driving record.
- OSHA 30 certification or the ability to obtain it.
- Experience and proficiency in all divisions of work, methods, materials, scheduling, and cost control of project scope.
- Ability to work with a variety of tools.
- Experience accessing, reading, and installing systems from BIM‑coordinated projects.
- Capacity to multitask and manage competing priorities in a fast‑paced environment.
- Strong technical and communication skills.
- Competency in Microsoft Excel, Word, and Project.
- Thorough understanding of and ability to maintain current, complete sets of project documents, blueprints, revisions, specifications, and related items.
- Proficiency in managing site logistics and contract operations on tight urban sites.
- Knowledge of all phases of construction.
- Must successfully pass a background check and drug test.
- Physical demands include occasional sitting, frequent stooping, crouching, kneeling, balancing, and climbing; constant standing, walking, reaching, and gripping; visual requirements for close and distance vision, color vision, peripheral vision, depth perception, and ability to adjust focus; occasional lifting up to 50 lbs (maximum solo lift) and constant lifting up to 25 lbs; classified as very heavy physical demand (PDC).
- Material handling requires lifting overhead from floor level to overhead, with occasional lifting up to 115 lbs, frequent lifting up to 50 lbs, and constant lifting up to 25 lbs; classified as very heavy physical demand (PDC).
Exposure to weather; extreme heat or cold; high noise intensity; atmospheric conditions; electrical shock; toxic or caustic chemicals; wet and/or humid conditions; vibration; proximity to moving mechanical parts; high exposure places.
