Position SummaryThe Safety Specialist supports the company’s safety program by working closely with Safety Managers, the Chief Risk Officer, project leadership, and field personnel to promote safe work practices and maintain compliance with company policies and applicable safety regulations. This position offers an opportunity for continued professional growth.
Essential Duties And Responsibilities- Work closely with Safety Managers and the Chief Risk Officer to support company wide and project-specific safety initiatives.
- Serve as a corporate safety professional, demonstrating ownership over all safety functions;
- Conduct safety inspections on project sites to ensure compliance with safety standards and policies;
- Identify and advise project staff of safety hazards and means to mitigate;
- Research, develop and implement best practices in safe operating procedures and policies;
- Focus on continuous improvement and partner with management, project staff, and others to achieve improved safety performance;
- Advise on safety rules and teach proper safety techniques;
- Develop, coordinate and conduct safety training and provide up to date safety information to the organization;
- Participate in accident & incident reviews to determine root cause(s) and appropriate corrective actions;
- Partner with Human Resources on the administration of Workers Comp claims.
- Perform other safety-related duties and special projects as assigned.
- Bachelor’s degree in construction safety, occupational safety, environmental health and safety, construction management, civil engineering, or a related field.
- Zero to five years of professional experience in safety, construction, or a related area.
- OSHA 30-Hour Construction certification preferred.
- Strong interpersonal, verbal, written, organizational, and time-management skills.
