Our client is a nationally recognized general contractor with a strong reputation for delivering complex, high-profile construction projects across a variety of sectors, including mission critical, healthcare, and advanced technology facilities. Due to continued growth within their Data Center division, they are seeking an experienced MEP Superintendent to join their team.

This position supports major data center projects across the United States and will require either full relocation to project locations or willingness to travel extensively depending on project assignment and business needs.

Position Overview

The MEP Superintendent will be responsible for overseeing all mechanical, electrical, plumbing, controls, startup, and commissioning activities throughout the construction lifecycle. Working closely with project leadership, trade contractors, vendors, and ownership teams, this individual will play a key role in ensuring successful project delivery while maintaining schedule, budget, quality, and safety objectives.

Key Responsibilities
  • Manage and oversee MEP trade contractors throughout construction, startup, and commissioning phases.
  • Coordinate mechanical, electrical, plumbing, and controls installations to ensure compliance with contract documents and project requirements.
  • Support project budgeting, forecasting, and cost management activities related to MEP scopes.
  • Assist with subcontractor procurement processes, scope reviews, and contract administration.
  • Manage submittal schedules, equipment tracking logs, material deliveries, and deficiency tracking.
  • Coordinate equipment procurement activities and monitor critical path items to support project schedules.
  • Develop, maintain, and monitor MEP construction and commissioning schedules.
  • Lead commissioning efforts, including coordination of third-party commissioning agents, system documentation, training, and client turnover activities.
  • Manage change order requests and support pricing, documentation, and execution of scope changes.

    Participate in subcontractor and trade partner preconstruction meetings.
  • Develop and implement Method of Procedure (MOP) documentation for critical work and live operational environments.
  • Lead QA/QC activities related to MEP systems installation, startup, and performance testing.
  • Utilize BIM/VDC technologies to support coordination, clash resolution, and construction planning.
  • Facilitate meetings related to critical MEP activities and project milestones.
  • Champion a strong safety culture and ensure adherence to all site-specific safety programs and procedures.
Qualifications
  • Bachelor's degree in Construction Management, Engineering, or a related discipline, or equivalent industry experience.
  • 5+ years of experience within the general contracting industry.
  • Minimum 3 years of experience supporting mission critical/data center, healthcare, or complex MEP-focused construction projects.
  • Strong understanding of MEP systems design, installation, startup, testing, and commissioning.
  • Experience managing subcontractors, schedules, budgets, documentation, and project controls.
  • Knowledge of construction estimating, means and methods, and industry best practices.

    Familiarity with BIM/VDC processes and construction technology platforms.
  • Experience with software such as Procore, Bluebeam, scheduling platforms, and related construction management tools is preferred.
  • LEED accreditation or experience with sustainable construction practices is advantageous.
  • Strong leadership, communication, and organizational skills.
  • Previous supervisory or team leadership experience is preferred.
  • Ability and willingness to relocate to project locations or travel extensively throughout the United States as required.
