Type: 1099 Contractor
Compensation & SchedulePay Rate: $56/hr
Per Diem: None
Completion Bonus: $150/month
Pay Frequency: Weekly
Schedule: Day Shift | 40 Hours Per Week
Why This Opportunity?Join a steel contractor supporting construction of a concrete high-rise project in Charlotte, NC. This role provides hands-on safety oversight for miscellaneous steel installation activities including welding, stair and handrail installation, storefront systems, material handling, and elevated work.
The Construction Safety Manager will maintain a strong field presence while working closely with steel crews and project supervision to identify hazards, enforce fall protection requirements, and ensure work is completed safely in a fast-paced vertical construction environment.
Required Qualifications- OSHA 30 Construction Certification
- Minimum 5 years of construction safety experience
- Miscellaneous steel construction experience
- High-rise construction experience
- Welding and hot work safety experience
- Stair, handrail, or architectural metal installation experience
- CHST, ASP, CSP, or other BCSP credential
- Oversee daily safety activities for miscellaneous steel installation operations
- Maintain a strong field presence alongside steel crews and project supervision
- Monitor welding, stair rail, handrail, storefront, and miscellaneous metal installation activities
- Conduct routine site inspections, audits, field observations, and risk assessments
- Monitor fall protection and elevated work throughout the high-rise
- Ensure compliance with OSHA regulations and project-specific safety requirements
- Monitor welding, cutting, grinding, and other hot work activities
- Support material handling, hoisting, and steel installation operations
- Review Job Hazard Analyses (JHAs), permits, and pre-task plans
- Identify unsafe conditions and behaviors and coordinate corrective actions
Participate in incident investigations and corrective action implementation - Maintain safety documentation, reports, inspections, and compliance records
- Partner with project leadership to proactively identify and mitigate hazards
- Promote a positive safety culture throughout the project
