Are you a Project Engineer looking to take the next step with an established contractor delivering complex underground utility and electrical infrastructure projects across the Carolinas?
We're partnering with a growing specialist contractor seeking a motivated Project Engineer / Assistant Project Manager to join its Charlotte operation and support the successful delivery of projects across the commercial, healthcare, industrial, higher education and multifamily sectors.
Working alongside experienced Project Managers and field leadership, you'll support projects from preconstruction through completion, helping coordinate everything from documentation and procurement to subcontractors, materials and field operations.
As a Project Engineer/ APM you will:- Manage and track project submittals, RFIs and change documentation.
- Assist with procurement and coordination of long-lead materials.
- Support Project Managers with cost tracking, forecasting and project reporting.
- Coordinate with owners, General Contractors, engineers, vendors and field teams.
- Assist with project schedules and ensure key milestones remain on track.
- Review drawings, specifications and project requirements.
- Support the delivery of underground conduit, duct bank, manhole, site lighting and related infrastructure scopes.
- Assist with project closeout and turnover documentation.
- Approximately 2-3+ years' experience within construction.
- Experience with underground utilities, electrical infrastructure, civil construction or a specialist subcontractor preferred.
- Strong understanding of construction drawings, specifications and project documentation.
- Experience managing submittals, RFIs, procurement and change orders.
- Excellent organisational and communication skills.
- The ability to work effectively between project management and field operations.
- Proficiency with construction management software and Microsoft Office.
