Job Summary

The Healthcare Project Superintendent is responsible for the overall field operations and day-to-day management of healthcare construction projects from preconstruction through completion. This role provides leadership and direction to subcontractors, vendors, and project team members while ensuring work is performed safely, efficiently, and in accordance with project plans, specifications, schedules, and applicable healthcare regulations. The ideal candidate has strong experience in healthcare construction, particularly occupied-space renovations and complex MEP systems, and understands the unique challenges associated with working in active healthcare environments.

The Superintendent must be an effective field leader who can proactively identify issues, coordinate multiple trades, maintain project schedules, and build strong relationships with clients, subcontractors, and project stakeholders.

Key Responsibilities Field & Project Management
  • Lead day-to-day field operations for healthcare construction projects from mobilization through completion.
  • Develop and manage project schedules in coordination with the Project Manager and project team.
  • Coordinate subcontractors, vendors, and trades to ensure work is completed safely, efficiently, and on schedule.
  • Review plans, specifications, submittals, and contract documents to ensure compliance with project requirements.
  • Monitor progress and proactively address scheduling, coordination, constructability, and field issues.
  • Coordinate inspections, testing, deliveries, shutdowns, and other critical project activities.
  • Maintain a clean, organized, and professional jobsite, including work in occupied healthcare facilities.
  • Apply the unique requirements of construction in active healthcare environments.
  • Maintain required ICRA training/certification and enforce infection prevention protocols throughout the project.
  • Coordinate with facility representatives and project stakeholders to manage shutdowns, utility interruptions, and other high-risk activities.
  • Minimize disruption to patients, staff, visitors, and ongoing facility operations.
Safety & Quality
  • Maintain a safe work environment and enforce McFarland, project-specific, and OSHA safety requirements.
  • Lead or participate in daily safety meetings, toolbox talks, inspections, and corrective actions.
  • Monitor workmanship and ensure construction complies with drawings, specifications, codes, and project requirements.
  • Identify and resolve quality issues, coordinate MEP and trade installations, and support punch list and project closeout activities.
Communication & Coordination
  • Serve as a primary field contact for subcontractors, vendors, clients, consultants, and facility personnel.
  • Lead subcontractor coordination meetings and communicate project priorities, schedules, safety expectations, and site requirements.
