The successful candidate for this position will be a 1099 contractor with Music Ministry International and be responsible for the following:
1. BACKGROUND:Marine Corps Base Camp Lejeune was established in September 1941 and is the home of the “Expeditionary Forces in Readiness”. As a component of the base, the Command Chaplain’s Office has the mission to develop personal and families of operating forces and the Camp Lejeune community for spiritual and personnel readiness through ministries, pastoral care, and the provision for and facilitation of the free exercise of religion.
2.0DESCRIPTION OF SERVICE:
The music director shall perform pianist or keyboard musician services in support of the Tarawa Terrace Protestant Chapel worship services, and Main Chapel Catholic Community and other religious events as determined by the Marine Corps Base Chaplain’s Office and is required to support the missions and responsibilities of the Command Religious Program. The services shall include, but not limited to:
2.1 The music director shall meet with the Officiating Chaplain to plan and coordinate worship services, prior to conducting any services. The music director shall select pre-approved music and creative worship elements for worship services.
2.2 The music director shall schedule, provide and evaluate rehearsals for vocal and instrumental musicians. Rehearsals may include adult choir, children’s choir, instrumental ensembles and vocal or instrumental soloist. Scheduled rehearsals will be conducted on a weeknight as needed.
2.3 The music director shall lead corporate worship during regular service times and other special services for active‑duty personnel.
2.4 The music director shall provide for prelude, offertory, special music, and postlude musical selections. The music director shall oversee the sound, light, and media dynamics of the worship services.
2.5 The music director shall oversee stage setup for the regular services, special services and rehearsals to reduce distractions and enhance the overall worship experience.
2.6 The music director shall plan, organize, and conduct music for seasonal programs (Christmas, Easter, etc.) and for special events such as revivals and congregational social events.
2.7 The music director shall provide support for special services which may be scheduled during the church calendar year or during civic holidays and will be coordinated by the Officiating Chaplain. The special services include such events as funerals, memorials, and special religious observations. Services for weddings are not authorized.
2.8 The music director, in support of regular scheduled services and special events, shall arrive at the appointed place of performance 15 minutes before the scheduled event.
2.9 The music director shall apprise the Chaplain of any malfunctions of the instruments and any required services needed to maintain the instruments musical integrity. Funding requests for necessary repairs, supplies, and musical literature are submitted by the Chaplain or their designated representative. The music director shall submit budget input in relations to purchase of music, equipment, and supplies.
2.10 The music director shall notify the Officiating Chaplain by telephone or email when they are unable to perform services due to illness, inclement weather, or emergency. Notification for any of the above examples should be given with as much advance notice as possible. Scheduled vacations require two week notice.
2.11 The music director shall provide and compensate a pre‑approved substitute when unable to perform services required as depicted in the Performance Work Statement.
2.11.1 The music director agrees to assign to the contract the person whose resume, personnel data forms, or personnel qualification statements were submitted as required by paragraph 3.0 to fill the requirements of the contract. No substitution or addition of personnel shall be made.
