As the
Senior Architect
, you will join the firm at our Charlotte, NC, offices and be responsible for leading the projects from design through construction and then to successful completion on our Industrial division. Your work will require you to have highly developed expertise in project management, architectural design, and technical knowledge. This senior technical level role provides the opportunity to pursue professional growth while contributing to one of the Southeast’s largest industrial design teams.
- Manage the project staff, production drawings, and consultants through the project process on multiple projects.
- Utilize operational management tools, including workload forecasting, resource planning, and project team development.
- Manage and develop project documents as per client, regulatory, and industry standards.
- Coach, mentor, and develop staff, including identifying and recruiting high-quality staff with leadership potential.
- Maintain project workload to ensure profitability.
- Apply interpersonal communication skills to build strong working relationships, resolve conflicts, and motivate the project team.
- Collaborate across other disciplines with internal and external team members.
- Promote a workplace culture that is consistent with the BHDP Collective Ambition.
- Primarily responsible for the technical and production aspects for all project sizes.
- Lead in‑house design team through development of design and construction documentation process.
- Likely responsible for multiple projects at one time based on project size. Could also provide support on larger project teams.
- Will supervise technical project staff of various sizes and skill levels.
- Support project management with the development of a work breakdown structure, estimating production efforts, managing project schedules, and tracking expended effort against the budget.
- Manage the internal team and external consultants to deliverables and schedule.
- Provide the internal team with technical guidance, redlines, and feedback.
- Implement the BHDP Design Process and the QA/QC process.
- Oversee code compliance with applicable codes, standards, and guidelines. Informs, directs, and trains the project architects with less experience and interns relative to these.
- Develop and coordinate technical specifications.
- Responsible for all aspects of construction administration, including but not limited to shop drawing/submittal review and coordination, attending project meetings, and periodic monitoring of construction sites, interfacing with contractors and clients.
- Use of Revit, MC Office, Bluebeam.
- A professional, accredited degree in Architecture is preferred, along with 10+ years’ experience and professional registration.
- Experience with industrial projects and clients is highly desired.
- Technical expertise on exterior and interior detailing preferred.
- Expert knowledge in advanced technology (e.g., Revit, Sketch‑Up, Rhino).
- Technical proficiency in specifications writing.
- Demonstrated project management and staff leadership success.

- Excellent communication skills, detail‑oriented, highly organized, self‑motivated, ability to exercise independent judgment, multitasking, delegating, planning, setting goals, meeting critical deadlines, being accurate, and team‑building skills.
