Essential Duties and ResponsibilitiesThe UNC Charlotte Department of Electrical and Computer Engineering (ECE) has a tenure‑track Assistant or Associate Professor starting in August 2026 for position #001808. Candidates will be considered based on expertise in all areas of electrical and computer engineering, with particular emphasis on computer systems and design aspects that enable real‑world AI applications, including hardware‑software co‑design for machine learning, learning‑enabled computer architectures, cloud and edge computing, hardware security, embedded systems, and systems software.
Candidates should be committed to excellence in teaching at the undergraduate and graduate levels, development of high‑impact sponsored research programs, supervision of student research, student mentoring, and academic services. Priority will be given to candidates having original and promising research as demonstrated by peer‑reviewed publications, potential for success in extramural funding, and a plan for future research that integrates well with existing department strengths.
Hires at the rank of an Associate Professor are also expected to have demonstrated success in receiving extramural research funding, supervising/mentoring graduate students, and teaching.
A Ph.D. degree in Electrical or Computer Engineering or a related field is required by the time of contract.
Minimum Experience/EducationUNC Charlotte gives primary consideration to the earned doctorate or terminal degree in the teaching discipline or a related discipline.
Preferred Education, Skills and ExperiencePh.D. degree in Electrical or Computer Engineering or a related field.
