Essential Duties and Responsibilities:

The primary purpose of the Financial Aid Counselor position is to manage daily, weekly, and monthly reports associated with the Office of Financial Aid involving but not limited to awarding, residency, unusual enrollment, and student semester enrollment. This role serves as a critical point of contact for providing accurate and timely information about financial aid policies and procedures to current and prospective students, their families, and other campus visitors through individual meetings and outreach.

In addition to these duties, this position will also have specific programmatic responsibilities, which may include managing specialized aid programs, supporting compliance initiatives, or assisting with outreach events.

Education:

Required

Minimum Qualifications:

Bachelor's degree; or equivalent combination of education and experience. All degrees must be received from appropriately accredited institutions.

Preferred Education

Skills and Experience:

  • Experience in a higher education/student services setting, preferred Financial Aid.
  • Knowledge of Federal and State Financial Aid Regulations and policies.
  • Excellent written and interpersonal communication skills, and customer service as demonstrated by application materials, including proficiency in Microsoft Office (Word, Excel, PowerPoint, etc.) and Google Suite.
  • Experience facilitating presentations and events for internal and external audiences, demonstrating strong public speaking and communication skills.
  • Ability to critically think and independently problem solve, while exercising professional judgement to elevate to management when necessary.
