SUMMARY

Under the direct supervision of the Director/Principal at the Career Preparation Center (CPC) with support from the Assistant Superintendent for Career and Technical Education (CTE), and in accordance with established policies and procedures, the Student Services Coordinator is responsible for assisting and supporting CTE instructional staff and students as assigned.

The Student Services Coordinator is responsible for addressing career preparation activities with students and staff, supporting work based learning opportunities for students, assisting with CPC and Eaton RESA Capital Region Technical Early College (CRTEC) recruitment activities, supporting student leadership opportunities and assisting special student populations enrolled in CPC and CRTEC programs. In addition, the Student Services Coordinator will provide assistance with student scholarships, early college student mentoring and course scheduling, career advising and work as a liaison with local district counselors, businesses and contracted partners.

PRINCIPAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES

Program Promotion & Student Recruitment

● Actively promote CPC and CRTEC programs to students, parents, and local district staff.

● Organize and participate in open houses, student orientations, advisory committee meetings, presentations, recruitment events, and other public relations or community engagement activities.

● Collaborate with local district counselors to recruit, enroll, schedule and support students in CPC and CRTEC programs.

Student Support Services

● Provide academic and personal support services to enable students successful transition to post-secondary education and careers through their programs of study.

● Coordinate and deliver support services for students from special populations, including facilitating and monitoring IEP/504 accommodations in collaboration with instructional staff.

● Attend IEP/504 meetings for enrolled students as requested and work to ensure accommodations are effectively implemented and tracked.

Career Development & Transition Support

● Assist students with career awareness, exploration, and preparation activities, including support for Education Development Plans (EDPs).

● Develop and implement transition activities to prepare students for post-secondary education and/or entry into the workforce.

● Coordinate and facilitate student involvement in Career and Technical Student Organizations (CTSOs), the National Technical Honor Society, and other student leadership initiatives.

Instructional & Program Support

● Work with CPC instructional staff to enhance curriculum and improve student performance.

● Support implementation of required student assessments, certifications, credentials and assist in the development of student portfolios.

● Assist with onboarding and mentoring of instructional staff.

● Develop, coordinate, and monitor work-based learning opportunities for students in assigned programs.

Collaboration & Communication

● Maintain regular and effective communication with students, families and staff from Eaton RESA, local districts, instructors, paraprofessionals and contracted program partners to implement high-quality services, exchange information and address concerns promptly.

● Organize and participate in regularly scheduled county-wide school counselor meetings.

Data, Reporting & Systems Support

● Maintain accurate and organized records to document student services and program contacts.

● Integrate and coordinate federal, state and local initiatives as they relate to student counseling, mentoring and support.

● Submit required reports in a timely and accurate manner.

● Collaborate with instructional staff and administrators to support data-driven decision-making, problem-solving, and implementation of Multi-Tiered Systems of Support (MTSS) across all levels of instruction and intervention.

Other Responsibilities

● Attend required meetings and professional development sessions.

● Perform other duties as assigned to support the success of CPC and CRTEC programs.
