ProgramOverview
The BEACON program at Ignite Achievement Academy offers a unique and supportive environment for students with speech and behavioral disabilities. Our model includes the integration of a speech language pathologist (SLP), teacher assistant, and other supportive staff into the classroom model to ensure all students are supported to allow for learning to occur and for better communication and behavior outcomes. With class sizes averaging just four students, teachers can provide individualized attention and implement effective behavioral strategies.
Position OverviewAs a Teaching Assistant, you will work alongside the classroom teacher to support each child’s individual instructional plan. Each classroom consists of approximately four to six students who receive a mixture of whole-group instruction and small-group instruction based on their unique learning needs. The Teaching Assistant assists the teacher throughout the day with differentiated instruction and one-on-one student support – typically Monday through Friday between the hours of 9:00AM and 3:00PM.
Key Responsibilities- Assist the classroom teacher in delivering instructional activities and lessons tailored to the needs of students with disabilities.
- Support students with their academic, social, and emotional development.
- Transition students to and from the restroom and provide verbal prompting to maintain bathroom hygiene.
- Implement and reinforce classroom routines and behavior management strategies.
- Provide one‑on‑one or small group support to students, ensuring they remain engaged and on task.
- Foster a safe, nurturing, and respectful classroom environment.
- Communicate effectively with the classroom teacher and other staff members regarding student progress and needs.
- Participate in professional development and training sessions as required.
- Assist with implementing and adapting technology and assistive devices to support student learning.

- Patience, empathy, and a genuine passion for working with students with disabilities;
- Exemplary written and oral communication skills
- Ability to establish a strong and supportive relationship with each assigned student
- Ability to work collaboratively with a team
- Stamina to actively engage with students throughout the school day and lift up to 50 lbs.
- Capability to perform tasks involving physical activities, including standing, walking, and bending
- Ability to pass a background check
- Bachelor’s degree
- Teacher certification
