The Executive Director of K-12 Academics, under minimal supervision, performs senior-level work with extensive decision-making discretion developing, monitoring, and coordinating district wide academic initiatives across grade levels and core content areas. Position collaborates with School Performance Areas, instructional teams, and central office departments to ensure the implementation and distribution of instructional resources align with Board of Education policies and the district's strategic priorities for student achievement, in support of and under the direction of the Chief Academic Performance Officer.
The Executive Director of K12 Academics coordinates logistical oversight of academic programs, monitors compliance requirements, supports the management of high-level reporting structures, tracks progress toward established goals, and elevates findings and recommendations to the Chief Academic Performance Officer for guidance and decision-making to ensure clarity, coherence, and consistency across academic initiatives.

Place of Work
The normal place of work is on the premises used by Charlotte-Mecklenburg Schools. Charlotte-Mecklenburg Schools reserves the right to require you to work at such other place(s) as it may reasonably require from time to time.
Essential Functions
* Adhere to all state, federal, and local laws, policies, and procedures
* Lead, manage, supervise, and evaluate assigned programs/staff in the district
* Collaborate on and monitor effective utilization of the departmental budget
* Assist in the development of long-and short-range goals and objectives for the improvement of system-wide teaching and learning
* Direct, lead, and coordinate district/state professional learning initiatives
* Monitor and support schools and staff with identifying practices for the distribution of district wide support for enrichment, resources and materials.
* Assist schools in developing, implementing, and monitoring academic intervention plans to address academic concerns
* Monitor equal access to instructional resources for all students
* Lead in the evaluation of instructional methods and programs, recommending how such methods and programs could be implemented within the teaching and learning framework
* Support and plan district wide instructional programs of professional development based on a needs assessment from a curriculum, instruction, and assessment review
* Serve as liaison between the school system and Department of Public Instruction on academic performance issues
* Serve as a supporting and participating member of Professional Learning Communities
* Collaborate with key stakeholders in the development of training plans focused on higher student achievement
* Provide benchmarks toward attainment of learning goals and implementation of North Carolina Standard Course of Study
* Facilitate professional development and attend other related meetings as needed/required
* Participate in professional development workshops and leadership training
* Create an inclusive environment with positive communication/public relations
* Perform related work as assigned or required
Knowledge, Skills, Abilities
* Comprehensive in-depth knowledge and understanding of the principles, practices, and procedures of public school system policies
* Comprehensive knowledge of federal, state, and local regulatory requirements applicable to school systems
* Comprehensive knowledge of staff development practices, procedures, and techniques
* Comprehensive knowledge on how to utilize appropriate data and information to make instructional decisions for students
