Position Overview
Director of Assessment, Planning, and Accreditation – Permanent, Full-time position with 12 months per year at Klein Hall in the College of Science.
Salary: $75,000 - $85,000.
Primary Purpose of PositionThe primary purpose is to direct and manage college-wide data, metrics, and management information related to KCOS students, faculty, staff, enrollment, academic programs, research, facilities, and related items for federal, state, UNC system, and regional accreditor reporting.
Responsibilities- Provides direction and oversight for all assessment processes within the Klein College of Science.
- Leads the annual review of the College’s Student Learning Outcomes Assessment Plans and Reports.
- Creates efficient systems for data collection and reporting with a focus on continuous improvement.
- Serves on University committees to identify and implement assessment and accreditation best practices and supports the University Office of Assessment and Accreditation in ad hoc projects.
- Develops and maintains processes and systems to track College data.
- Manages the College’s program review processes.
- Prepares accreditation-related substantive change notifications on behalf of the College.
- Supports the College’s curriculum development, including development of new degree programs.
- Works with faculty and College leaders to assist with Curriculog proposals.
- Conducts periodic and ad hoc research and evaluation projects, and is responsible for data collection, analysis, and preparing reports.
- Collaborates with college leadership and administrative staff to research program and policy procedures.
- Acts as a primary data resource and is accountable for pulling standard and ad hoc reports from multifarious databases, drafting empirical analyses, eliciting edits and sign‑off from stakeholders, and creating final versions of documents for storage.
- Collaborates with the Office of Institutional Effectiveness and Analytics to update databases.
- Serves as the College’s Data Analyst to support data management and reporting.
- Master’s degree from an accredited college or university and one year of related experience.
- Doctorate in a discipline related to educational assessment is preferred.
- Significant experience in managing and leading large‑scale academic assessment activities at the program level is strongly preferred.
- Proficiency with assessment and student software, including Anthology and Banner, is desired.
- Proficiency with data visualization software, including Tableau, is strongly preferred.
- Experience with both quantitative and qualitative methods is strongly preferred.
- Ability to conduct peer‑reviewed research is strongly preferred.
- Experience in the area of assessment and/or evaluation.
- Experience with outcome‑based assessment strategies and methods.
- Ability to analyze and interpret assessment results.
- Demonstrated ability to work collaboratively and productively.
- Excellent communication skills, including delivering presentations and developing reports.
- Experience with data analysis.
- Ability to translate data into usable information and transform it into formats that are consumable for decision‑making purposes.
- A sign‑on bonus has been approved for this position; the bonus amount will be determined by the hiring manager when a position is offered.
