General Definition of Work
The summer assistant site coordinator, under general supervision, performs support work with minimal decision-making discretion assisting the summer site coordinator with the implementation of assigned summer programming. The assistant site coordinator assists with appropriate coordination and administration for the assigned school site. Employee performs school-based work to carry-out Board of Education policies under the direction of the summer site coordinator.

Place of WorkThe normal place of work is on the premises used by Charlotte-Mecklenburg Schools. Charlotte-Mecklenburg Schools reserves the right to require you to work at such other place(s) as it may reasonably require from time to time.
Essential Functions- Adhere to all state, federal, and local laws, policies, and procedures
- Monitor and evaluate assigned programs/staff in the district
- Support implementation of plans and communication related to summer programming
- Support summer school staff in understanding and following school safety procedures and daily staff procedures
- Review checklists, building logistics plan, field trip checklists, and testing plans;
Communicate potential issues or concerns to the summer site coordinator - Monitor student/teacher ratio and notify summer site coordinator when adjustments may be needed
- Monitor student engagement and tutoring sessions
- Act as a liaison between the summer site coordinator, feeder schools, parents, and summer staff as needed
- Collect and organize all documentation for federal and academics programs
- Respond to questions regarding summer programming
- Perform related work as assigned or required
- Knowledge of the principles, practices, and procedures of public school system
- Knowledge of North Carolina Standard Course of Studies (NCSCOS) and K-12 curriculum and instructional programs
- Knowledge of utilizing appropriate data and information to make instructional decisions for students
- Knowledge of various learning styles, curriculum development and program evaluation, effective instructional strategies, classroom management, learning assessment and diagnosis, and research related to learning
- Ability to learn and use specialized tools, equipment or software related to business needs
- Ability to implement local, state, and federal rules, guidelines, and procedures into daily business operations
- Ability to communicate effectively, both verbally and in writing
- Ability to reason, make judgments, and maintain effective working relationships
- Ability to employ positive communication skills in all settings/mediums
- Ability to problem-solve utilizing sound judgment
- Ability to maintain confidentiality regarding school system business
- Ability to take initiative, work independently, and exercise sound judgement
- Ability to conceptualize, initiate, monitor, and evaluate new and current programs
- Ability to work effectively in a deadline-driven, rapidly changing team environment
- Master's degree required
- Valid, or renewing, NC Teaching license in educational leadership or school administration required
- At least two (2) years in school leadership preferred
- Equivalent combination of education and experience
- Possess and maintain a valid driver's license or ability to provide own transportation
- Travel to school district buildings and professional meetings
- Full attendance is required for all scheduled days of Summer Programming. Annual leave will not be approved during this period.
