General Function
The Program Support Specialist exists to plan and organize outreach activities of Curriculum Courses for Skilled Trades and Transportation. Responsibilities will include, but are not limited to, providing responsible staff support to the Associate Dean and Program Developer(s), managing the activities of faculty, teaching assistants, and staff, maintaining systems to evaluate and deliver student needs, including outreach activities, tours, and general program support.
Duties and Responsibilities
1. Assists Skilled Trades programs in developing, planning, implementing, and administering program engagement events.
2. Assists with marketing of assigned program areas; engages potential students; works with marketing staff and prepares marketing materials and literature for distribution to potential students; will make and/or assist with presentations to schools, organizations, and agencies.
3. Provides administrative assistance to immediate supervisor; develops, prepares, and presents recommendations and reports; coordinates activities with other program areas.
4. May advise students on a variety of academic and administrative matters; assesses students in training needs for program/area; suggests program options
5. Serve on Skilled Trades advisory committees as needed.
6. Maintain a high level of sensitivity, understanding, and respect for a diverse academic environment, inclusive of students, faculty, and staff of varying social, economic, cultural, ideological, and ethnic backgrounds.
7. Support the mission, vision, and values of the College and attends College events and meetings.
8. Other duties as assigned.
Minimum Requirements and
Preferred Qualifications
Associates degree in the Skilled Trades or Transportation disciplines or a combination of coursework, certifications, and work experience

Reporting Relationships:
Direction Received:
Receives general guidance and direction from the Dean or Director of Workforce Education. Receives direct supervision from the Associate Dean.
Direction Given:
Provides functional direction and guidance to faculty and support staff for program direction and administration.
Knowledge, Skills, Abilities, and Worker Characteristics:
* Principles and practices of program promotion
* Methods and techniques of program outreach
* Principles and practices of grant proposal preparation
* Principles and practices of financial record keeping, methods and techniques of program marketing and publicity, computer technology and application
* Oral and written communication skills and leadership skills
Working Conditions:
Typical lab shop environment; lifting and carrying items up to 40 lbs.; twisting or bending at the waist or reaching overhead; traveling between buildings on campus or to other campuses; frequently listening to and talking with students, faculty, and other staff members either in person, by telephone, or virtually; frequently sitting at a desk or workstation using a computer display, keyboard, and mouse.
