Under direct supervision, the Coordinator, Greenville Fire & Rescue Training is responsible for coordinating and overseeing the continuing education training needs of Greenville Fire & Rescue in partnership with the College’s Fire & Emergency Management program. This position serves as the liaison between the College and Greenville Fire & Rescue to ensure high-quality, compliant, and responsive delivery of fire and emergency services training.
This part‑time position is required to work 29 hours per week and will include nights and weekends as needed to support program operations and Greenville Fire & Rescue training schedules.
- Coordinate, schedule, and monitor all Fire & Emergency Management training courses delivered for Greenville Fire & Rescue. Coordinate logistics including facilities, equipment, instructional materials, and training site readiness.
- Collaborate with Greenville Fire & Rescue leadership to assess departmental training needs and develop an annual or ongoing training plan.
- Facilitate communication between Greenville Fire & Rescue personnel, instructors, and College administration.
- Support coordination of instructional components, including instructor selection and evaluation, assignment preparation, curriculum development, class scheduling, and program monitoring.
- Coordinate the pickup, delivery, and return of supplies and equipment needed for Fire and EM training activities conducted at Pitt County public safety agencies and partner training sites.
- Provide course instruction when needed.
- Conduct required class visitations and instructional evaluations.
- Ensure program compliance with O.S.F.M., the NC Community College System, and Pitt Community College standards.
- Provide orientation and training to students participating in fire and emergency services programs.
- Demonstrate strong organizational skills and the ability to work efficiently, reliably, and cooperatively.
- Maintain confidentiality of student, instructor, and staff information; ensure compliance with FERPA regulations and participate in annual FERPA training.
- Identify and recommend improvements to internal workflows to enhance customer service for Continuing Education students and partners.
- Participate in professional development activities that enhance job‑related skills and knowledge.
- Perform related duties and responsibilities, as assigned by supervisor.

- Associate’s degree from a regionally accredited institution
- Current N.C. Firefighter and an Instructor Level I credential
- Valid NC Class B driver’s license
- Instructor Level II credential
- Experience working in a community college setting and familiarity with college‑level instructional procedures
- Demonstrated experience in online teaching and course facilitation.
Office, classroom, training ground, and public safety environments including fire stations, training towers, burn buildings, classrooms, and regional training sites. Requires frequent interaction with firefighters, instructors, college personnel, and public safety partners. May work in indoor climate‑controlled environments as well as outdoor training areas exposed to varying weather conditions, heat, cold, smoke simulation environments, and uneven terrain. Involves travel between campus and off‑site training locations within Pitt County and surrounding areas.
The work environment is fast‑paced and deadline‑driven, particularly when coordinating multiple training sessions, ensuring compliance requirements, and supporting emergency services training schedules.
