Essential Duties and ResponsibilitiesThe Department of History at the University of North Carolina at Charlotte invites applications for a visiting assistant teaching professor beginning August 10, 2026. This is a one year, non-renewable position. Within a 4-4 teaching load, the successful candidate will teach undergraduate and graduate courses in Latin American History that service our curricula in History and Latin American Studies.
Minimum Experience / EducationUNC Charlotte gives primary consideration to the earned masters and/or terminal degree in the teaching discipline or a related discipline.
Preferred Education Skills and ExperienceRequired qualifications: A Ph.D. in History or related field is required at the time of appointment, college-level teaching experience, and a commitment to serving UNC Charlotte students of all backgrounds. The field of specialization is Latin American history.
Desired qualifications:
We are also interested in candidates with additional expertise and the ability to teach courses in the following fields:
- Atlantic World/US history before 1865
- Public history
- Capitalism studies
- Women and gender studies
