Essential Responsibilities include:
- Utilize specialized training such as the Orton Gillingham approach to individualize instruction for each student
- Arrive at school prepared for sessions before the starting time of the session
- Provide assigned tutoring in one-on-one or group setting
- Ongoing communication and goal setting with classroom teachers
- Communicate as requested with outside professionals concerning the student’s progress and any concerns
- Post students’ tutoring notes after each tutoring session on Veracross for the parents to access
- Continually assess student progress with subject-specific skills (gauge appropriateness of frequency of tutoring) by setting goals and identifying student strengths and weaknesses.
- Send updated goals to parents and teachers every other month.
- Review and understand educational testing reports to be able to utilize strategies when working with students
- Provide assessments in reading, spelling, reading comprehension, math, and written expression as indicated for each student
- Demonstrate knowledge about students with learning differences through continued professional development offered through ERP
- Exhibit appropriate technology skills
- Present a positive attitude and professional image toward students, parents and school faculty
- Engage fully with students during the tutoring session.
Education and Experience
- Four-year college degree required, with an educational degree and knowledge of learning disabilities preferred
- Orton Gillingham training or specialized literacy training (i.e. Wilson, IMSE)
- Practicum/Tutoring Experience
