The Growing Years Prosperity is seeking MECK Pre-K Lead Teachers to support our MECK Pre-K program! This state‑funded program supports preschool age children.

To be QUALIFIED for this position, we require a Birth‑through‑Kindergarten (B‑K) licensure and bachelor's degree in early childhood education.

Required Shift: MECK Pre‑K follows the Charlotte‑Mecklenburg Schools schedule and calendar. The MECK Pre‑K Lead Teacher works 8 hours a day (Monday – Friday): 6.5 hours with students and 1.5 hours for planning and organizational time. MECK Pre‑K has the same schedule for holidays, teacher workdays, and summer break as CMS.

Compensation: $43,490 – $57,165 per year, based on years of experience and education.

    Job Responsibilities:
    • Implements and models strategies and teaching tools related to academics, social‑emotional, and behavioral needs to promote growth for all learners.
    • Follows program guidelines, childcare regulations, and best practices to ensure a safe and age‑appropriate environment that promotes learning.
    • Implements the Creative Curriculum to fidelity.
    • Completes ongoing assessments and regularly collects valid documentation.
    • Encourages family participation and provides them with consistent communication to promote a partnership.
    • Attends and participates in all MPK and site‑specific professional development.
    • Must be able to lift up to 30 pounds and be able to see, hear and respond to children’s needs including reaching high, stooping to the child’s level, sitting on the floor and getting up being able to reach a child 20‑30 feet away within 15 seconds without danger to staff person’s health. Must be able to stand on your feet for long periods of time at least 90% of the day.
